  • Yeah not bad! I like concave looks, reason I went for wheel arches is to get a wider foot print. So wheel offset going to give me that. I can't go too much offset because it may generate more strain on wheel bearings. But i think ET20 or 25 would be ok. Rubber will fill the arches

On another note air suspension is one of my distant dreams too. If I decided to keep the car for a long time I will do that too, not in near future though.

    • You've got the opportunity to go with a really nice concave look or something with a big lip. My personal preference on a Tig is for a concave rim.

The bigger the rim and more aggressive offset the more the dish

      • Had a close encounter with a Blue R32 and this is the first time Tig met a R32 side by side. First time it was a surprise for the Tig as R32 immediately started to put about a car distance from Tig but Tig caught up to it quickly and showed the turbo power. After a friendly chat with the R32 guys second run was not that surprising but still R32 pulled hard from the start but Tig easily killed it with in first 10 yards.
R32 guys were really surprised too haha!
Honestly I am surprised about the low end power delivery of the R32. I think even a golf R will struggle first few meters with a R32 from start without launch control!

        • Ramee, you need a Sprint booster if you're going to be doing the traffic lights GP. Speeds up throttle response so you won't lose quite so much distance off the line

It causes the DSG gearbox to lock up a lot quicker so there's less of the DSG "hesitation". Downsides with running it is that throttle control is more of a challenge for the twisties/round abouts. I switch mine on/off when I need it.

haha! yes looks like I may need one.. one more thing to my mod list

Also I think it is also turbo lag causing problems during start up. He has all 6 cylinders from the beginning but Tig only got 4 and no turbo for start. I think that is the main reason VW introduce launch control for turbo line up.. for traffic light GP

Yeah you'll have more turbo lag on the K04 than the K03. LC for traffic lights GP is a little over the top don't you think?

Most DSG Golf R owners get beaten off the line too so don't feel bad.

So I wander BIG turbo guys must be having more problems during initial stage. Looks like K04 is an acceptable middle ground option for that sort of business. Yeah LC is bit hard to do in TL GP, but Tig being underdog it always get a second chance and then you can prepare for a LC Because second time mostly other guy do the same !

                • Do you ever go to the race track or drag strip? Because that's where those shenanigans belong.

Of course Brad! I go to drag strip every weekend and to the track every two weeks!!!

All this happened on there and as usual I don't understand what you are talking about @:

                    • Update about NewSouth boost gauge. Few weeks after install yesterday it started paying up! It stated to show -20 PSI even engine is not running and when idling it goes to -30 and stay there even in boost. Looks like boost sensor not working properly since when I move the sensor needle moves irrationally. Checked all the wires and voltages and they are ok. So decided to get a universal boost sensor and see how it goes.

Problem is that universal sensor requires 12V power compared 5V power use by the original sensor. I hope universal one has a 5V regulator inside and generate output signal comparable to the original one.

If it only worked for a couple of weeks I'd be going back to the supplier/manufacturer.

                          • Yes guys, I am bit disappointed about the gauge. Problem is I got it from a forum member not directly from manufacturer (but it is band new). . Another problem is Newsouth performance does not even have a contact email address and their online contact form does not work either. Only way is to send it back to their US address and hope for the best

If you did it with launch control, you could've killed it even within the first 5 metres, but it's not very wise to do it on the street...and yeah, it's not healthy for your gearbox/transmission at all.

Don't know if you have noticed the same, I find it a little annoying that 1st gear is not doing anything, then 2nd to 3rd sometimes 3rd to 4th you can feel the turbo is kicking you hard. It felt like the car suddenly turns into a wild horse with endless power. This is quite different to the previous K04 setting. When I feel like to have a quick launch, 1st gear is always disappointing.

Your situation is bit different to mine, because you have HP DSG flash and I think it allows car to stay in 1st gear longer. In my case in D mode DSG quickly shifts to 2nd gear. But in S mode it keeps the 1st engaged little bit longer.

When I read about this K04 3.1 tune I noticed that APR developers were talking about advance torque management in low gears, 1st and 2nd gears. And they mostly target this tune for GTI (front wheel drive) platform and to improve the traction in low gears they controlled the torque delivery in those gears. But in our case that is not necessary because of the all wheel drive system we never had traction issues. But I think APR mentioned a way around this if you want maximum torque in low gears. That is if you switch off traction control by pressing TC button APR ECU coding will let for higher torques in low gears by disabling torque management stuff.

When I go for a quick acceleration I always run in sports mode with TC off.
