Yes If you look carefully last 10km/h jump has taken more than 1 sec. (90 km/h to 100 km/h) Could be due to that gear change from 2 to 3. Just think about if car accelerate same pattern it did to 90km/h and all the way to 100 km/h .. hehe could be easily a 4 sec car.

Nice to see you got your performance Haldex

I think I'd need to change the gearbox/ratios to make it into a 4sec car. Yes it's the change from 2nd to 3rd that slows the forward progress at around 85-90km/hr. Unfortunately I can't get to 100km/hr in second gear so need to shift again and as you say it doesn't ever recover the acceleration. The gear change combined with the increased wind resistance is what slows it down.

I am just wandering could a increase rev limiter can keep the car in second gear until it hits 100 km/h. On second thought it may need about 10% increase so about 7500 RPM red line? may not be feasible with our cars.

It should be easy enough. Just two bolts to unscrew and two connectors to unplug. One connector connect the module to CAN bus/ECU and other smaller connector connected to Haldex pump.

One connector is bitch to unplug (smaller one) so I first removed the two bolts from haldex unit and took the controller off from solenoid and then removed the connector. Also top bolt is hard to access (have some fun with a short allen key ) I used a very small mini ratchet I bought just for the purpose for the second time removal and install !

Another thing is solenoid is stuck in there( it will not come out with the controller) and hard to pull out by hand. I used vice grip to pull it out.( but be careful not to damage the solenoid body or connector) When you pulled out the old solenoid haldex oil will come out so be prepared to put the new one ASAP.

Good luck with the install, looking forward for a nice review.

Here is a nice study material to get better understanding of Haldex in Tiguan

Yes increase rev limit would probably do it but I'm not chasing numbers that badly that I'd want to destroy the engine

Thanks for that - nice study guide

Did you do yours on a hoist or on jack stands? I have heard people put on jack stands and tip the car so less/minimal oil comes out.

I've got the install guide which came with the product and it looks simple enough but it really doesn't say that much about how best to go about it.

Also did you replace your Haldex oil at the same time?

Second time removal???? Was that when you busted things?

Yes I used jack stands. You only have to lift one wheel ( rear passenger side). But if you can put the car on a hoist would make the job much easier

Yeah I change my Haldex oil same time actually I did it twice haha .. first time when my diff got damaged and the second time when installing my HPA Haldex.

                      • Definitely worth having the oil at least. I made the mistake of believing what I read - that you can do it without losing any. Unless you're super quick or super lucky (neither of which was I) you will lose some so best to be prepared. Considering it only holds 300-400ml it doesn't take much of a loss to starve the pump
Obviously that's newer version to what I got (with blue cover) - do you know what the additional benefits are of newer version?
Biggest difference I noticed was smoother/quicker transition of power between axles - none of that feeling of apparent additional gear change when taking off!
Also handling, while by no means rear-biased, is certainly more neutral when pushing it. Although I had springs and lower control arm bushes/alk done around same time which certainly reduced natural understeer tendency as well.
Be curious as to how yours will feel given you've had all that done already so will be used to the handling and be able to notice the difference more. Certainly makes for nice neutral/safe feeling 4 wheel drifts when on the limit ( as I discovered at recent track day)

Hmm thanks guys. Looks like it might be best to wait until I have some Haldex oil and do the oil change at the same time.

Go to local VW now!! All you need is 1L of bottle which will cost around 60 AUD. Usually they have in stock.

Anyway you can do it with minimal oil loss if you are quick and do the refill later...

Oh I forgot to tell, you need a small piston style pump to pump oil in to the Haldex unit. You can get one from Supercheap.

                            • What - $60?! I got quoted about $90 thru VW when I tried getting it, so ended up getting it through ECS for about $40 (with a few other bits to make the freight worthwhile) but then had to wait a couple of weeks all the while praying I wouldn't destroy anything with not having enough oil in there!
Pump is good idea, but I managed by just using the tube it came in - like silastic with nozzle and built in plunger. Stuck it one of those dispenser guns and did the job.....
Obviously they are now selling it in 1l bottle, whereas the tube I got was "oneshot" deal with just the right amount. Either that or turkey at dealership either wasn't aware of or didn't want to sell it in the bottle

Yeah I got 1L bottles around 60 AUD. And my haldex unit drank more than 300mL. More like 600 to 700 mL of oil. Are you sure you put the right amount in there ?

My Haldex oil part number VW-G060175A2. Exact price is 69.25 for 1L bottle. Sorry about the confusion
