  • $380 for 15000km/1st year servicing a 2011 Tiguan 125TSI, a rip-off?

I thought the first service for tiguan would be around $200 as indicated by some posts I read.
Is it a big rip off the service centre asked $380?
    Appreciate any advice.
    Thanks.

$380 sounds about right - I recently serviced my R for the first time and paid $325 (dealer). As I am getting a new Tig next year, I thought I would ask how much the first service is and was quoted the same price. It's definitely worth calling around though - Contact the guys at CVWC in Belconnen and see how much they charge as a comparison to the dealers - Better going with these guys than a bunch of apprentices screwing things up at the dealerships....

Thanks for that. Will check CVWC Belconnen later.
If I do service there, would factory warranty get effected?

No way will you get a 15k at a dealership for $200. I doubt an independant would do $200 either.

Independant will be $250-$300; Dealer should be $300-$350 but the price seems to be creeping a bit. You get Canberra Tax as well don't you? (ie: Everyone is an overpaid public servant with bags of money to throw around)

that's spot on for a 15k service...had my 147 serviced at the dealership on the north side for the first and last time in August this year - had a few warranty issues as well which took a phone call to VW head office to get it sorted and mind you here we are in December and it's still not fully sorted - follow my adventures here:

Bottom line they do not care and treat you like an idiot + the QoS (Quality of Service) is appalling so do yourself a favour and go to somebody who knows what they are doing...as I haven't been to CVWC I cannot comment but I hear good reports so I will be banging on their door for my next service. If you think you should go to a dealer due to warranty issues might pay to have a think about this as I went to the dealer for a service and a few warranty issues (after purchasing the 147 from them) and it's still not resolved. My major concern now is if something major failed like the DSG for example what would I do, if these guys can't fix simple things on my tiggy how would they fix a DSG? - I don't have much faith

I never heard any of the dealership would do a service under/around $200, except those Toyota or Mitubitsu capped price servicing.
                    My wife's Micra cost $220-240.
                    Mk1 TT costed me $400+
                    MK5 GTI costed me $390
Got quoted with indenpent Tiguan $290, Dealership asked for $380

Especially, Euro cars... $200 doesnt really do much nowadays. Thanks for the labour rate

I agree everything is little over priced here in Canberra but unfortunately I am not one of those public servants with extra cash to throw around. Seems like $300 for 15k would be more reasonable then.

What can I say... shop around, you don't have to get your car serviced by the dealer and sometimes you could even be better of.

                          Very subtle BB!

If only I could pull myself together to live in Adelaide, I would give you a call to service my new Yeti.
