Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Well the dumb @$$e$ shot themselves on the foot by just naming the Tig variants by their kilowatts.

Makes the track and field line overly complicated and confusing to name!

    Perhaps:
    103TDI Offroad
    125TSI Offroad
    147TSI Offroad

But I think we're running out of space (already) on the boot lid for more fricken badges!

      Where's the 220kw version? That's what I'm waiting for.

        It's already available.
Just need a downpipe, full exhaust and ecu remap

        That is probably enough though.
Anything over Stage 2 (210kw engine) is not going to be useful on our roads.

There won't be a 147TSI anymore ..... it will be 155TSI, just like all the other VWs with the same engine.

          New model? maybe a Tiguan R .... .....

Or a stretch version with 7 seats? China has that already .....

          or an entry FWD 110TSI?

          or the 125TDI?, or a 132TTDI?

or even better a V6TDI? .... Transporter will sell his TDI on the spot to get that one, just like I will do the same if a Tiguan R lands .....

The Tiguan R has been out for years in Europe and here in NZ BUT it's just trim changes, no change to the various engines (think it's available with all the different engines in Europe). I realise this ISN'T what you're looking for though !!

            Cheers

Yep, R-Line has been out for a while, but like Derek says its cosmetic only and not what I'm after .... looking for a 199kw stock Tiguan R .... that can then be tuned to 260+kw .....

                Too much power!
Yopu would need to go DSG in order to use it effectively.

You can never have too much power ......

and the manual will be fine with it, the DSG is highly overrated .... good for launch controlled starts and heavy traffic commuting, but dumb everywhere else ..... and definately not as satisfying to drive ....

Need to change the ratios on the manual box though.

I'd love to do this if/when I do a clutch upgrade. Surely it can't be a big deal? It would make an immense difference - I really hate first gear.

Seems the Tiguan facelift has just been officially launched. More here: Volkswagen Tiguan (2012) with pictures and wallpapers

                      The main points:
                      - FWD models now available (manual only)
                      - 4 petrol engines (1.4 TSI in 90kW and 118kW; 2.0 TSI in 132 kW and 155kW)
                      - 3 diesel engines (2.0 TDI in 81 kW, 103 kW and 125 kW)
                      - Offroad models "Track & Field" and "Track & Style"
                      - Onroad models "Trend & Fun" and "Sport & Style"
                      - Fatigue detection standard on the upper-spec "& Style" version
                      - Optional XDS electronic diff lock
                      - new Dynamic Light Assist with LED DRL (with the optional Bi-Xenon)
                      - Gen 2 Park assist, including perpendicular parking.

The "Track & Style" is a competely new equipment line, so I wonder if that is the "new unnamed model" alluded to above (or it could be a 125TDI with the same spec as the 147TSI, in the non-offroad variety).

Interestingly, boot space has been quoted as "between 470 litres to 1,510 litres". Pretty sure the current spec is 395 litres? Either a different measurement, or they managed to package it better.

yeh, and it's all too much anyway. Too confusing for the average consumer and only further confuses (reduces) the resale value of the vehicles - I mean 4 petrol engines and 3 diesels?!!! Please explain?!

All of those engines have always been available overseas on the Tigs. Australia likely to only get the 103TDI, 132TSI and 155TSI. Every model needs ADR compliance and VWA unlikely to spend extra $$$ to get more models ADR'd and into Oz.

Yep, most of those will be o'seas models I'm sure...

Although, I do think we may be in for the Front wheel drive models as a cost factor. After all so many other competitors are doing that too...like the crappy Outlander etc...
