No such thing as over pampering, just a big boys toy. Takes me an hour and a half to wash/detail once a fortnight. I think at least 20mins of that is attributed to washing in a unit block.

Hope you're enjoying your Tig, great specs. Are you going to get tinting done? I'm thinking I'll get Rob that everyone (mainly golf owners) rave about.

I would have gone the diesel too except it's a town car that rarely gets of 80kph. I'll keep my eyes peeled for another good looking Tig. Enjoy!

With tinting ... Just as a heads up, it's very hard to colour match the green tinge of the factory tint.

      Certainly has been my experience.

But I might be more anal than most.

Yes that has concerned me too. I was hoping a light gauge might help with this. Have you had your Tig tinted?

Yes and by Rob! Just the front windows required for a 147TSI

Light meter won't help! It's more the colour of the film required to match the factory tint which like I mentioned is green.

Great thanks. Which film did you go for? Is there any reason you didn't go over the factory tint? I know, I know there is going to be a very simple reason as to why, but why not?

Two reasons ... legalities and insurance!

From memory, light meter placed against the factory tint on rear passenger & back windows came in between 33 - 34%.

147TSI are tinted at the factory as standard.

But the tight @$$ don't tint the front windows which probably save them 20 euros per car.

You don't have this problem with a 103TDI!

Thanks mate. I'll let you know how I go, I'll be a couple of weeks away until it's done. I take it 33-34% light is too dark. I'll have to do my research.

It's right on the edge of legality certainly for NSW:
                      http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registrati...vsi03_rev3.pdf

So that's why going another layer on top of the factory tint was not an option for me.

But like I've said, it's a PITA to colour match the factory tint when just doing the fricken front windows (aftermarket) that VW decided they won't do.

Another thing they fcuken fail to mention to prospective buyers of the top spec model!

I would much prefer if the bean counters (they hired) suggest growing revenue rather than cut costs!
And to go down to such a petty level of scrimping (as front window tints) is unbelievable.

How about selling your old brochures for $2 or something instead?

Hang on sec ... sorry some tight @$$e$ have thought of that already on eBay!

Aussietig, I would have been more then happy to pay for the tint on the front windows or not have it. My understanding of VW's reasoning is there are different standards across the world and by leaving the front windows "um-tinted" they can have it as a standard to sell.

Thanks for the link to the RTA guidelines. I agree with you on going 33 - 34% is right on the borderline. I'll have to find the actual legislation as from reading this guide I took it that a clear UV film can be applied to the front windscreen. I'm anti skin cancer like everyone else I'm sure and wouldn't mind having this if you can't notice it. Thank again for your help.

I'm getting in early regarding ios5. For those with VW Bluetooth were there connectivity issues going from ios3 to ios4. I like many apple fans love updates but don't want it to cause issues with my Bluetooth.

I know really we need to wait to find out but ....... What are people's thoughts?

Anyone done this well in a 147 Tig? I'm interested to know what maximum people have got. This was after a country drive out to Forbes and back to Sydney. Usually I get 450km being in Sydney.

Holy cow that is a good return.

I can get up to 800 on highway trips with Stage 2 and the muffler delete but i tend to be a bit leadfooted with the mods

                                I'm sorry about the hijacking this thread, but it is the ideal oportunity to ask;

if someone would share with me the fuel economy in 125TSI or 147TSI DSG or Auto, ...wait for it; when driven in the city traffic and trips up to 10km. The reason why ask is that my daughter is upgrading her Golf to Tiguan and I seriously thinking about 132TSI with the tiptronic rather than diesel with the DSG. She drives 6km every morning to her work, so I have to decide between reliable tiptronic with TSI engine and 103kWTDI (with DPF) with the DSG. She loves the fuel economy of her Golf very much – visits the ……….what’s the name for it ……………yeah the fuel station every 8weeks.
