So I tried out launch control last night. One thing I noticed that the manual doesn't mention is you need to turn auto-hold off. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The first couple of times I tried it I couldn't get the revs up. The revs dropped! I managed to work it out and got them up to about 3200 and took off. To me it just feels like dumping the clutch in a DSG. It's fast but not as neck jerking as I hoped. I think I feel like a tool revving that high before I take off.

I know when BMW first released their version of launch control they only recommend something like using it once every hour. What are people thoughts on this for the Tig? I warmed the engine up and the oil to 100 degrees before I tried the launch control.

Yep ... definitely tool, especially if you also have a "baby on board" sign on the back!

But definitely agree the sensation isn't there with LC (certainly in a stock Tig).

Definitely felt it when I had a Mk5 GTI Stage 1 (SuperChips).

But back in those days, axle tramp and wheelspin in the wet was equally as embarassing!

Something I'd have to say doesn't exist in a Tig!

But jeez, I wish someone (SuperChips and the like) could hurry up and find a way to remove the chastity belt from my VAG (pardon the pun)!

You've had that ache in your VAG for a while now, aussietig. Surely someone out there has just what that poor little neglected, padlocked VAG needs?

Please, transporter, no more infraction points?

If you guys want some more performance, have a look here: http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...ing-56616.html

and then go visit your nearest APR dealer. I can wheelspin all 4 wheels (and they are sticky 235s) quite easily in the dry .... never mind the wet ....

Well aware of what the engine's capable of and what needs to be done!

In fact, CAI installed already and waiting for Stage 1+!

But unfortunately, I'm one of the lucky ones that has the Bosch encryption that the tuners can't crack at the moment!

I'll be visiting APR as soon as my bank balance and girlfriend approve. Yes I know soft but hey I think shell notice if I get it down without telling her. But certainly dreaming if stage 1 at the moment.

Well I have a small scratch on my new toy. I've been parking ultra conservatively and I'm guessing it may be as a result of a shopping trolley, but who knows The small scratch is on the passenger's side boot.

What are people's thoughts on how to fix this? The approximate cost? And what should I do with it in the interim, ie put wax or sealant over it?

Sorry to see that happen to your brand new Tig, mate... Its a harrowing experience, going to the supermarket, i reckon! I guess you'll be getting it repaired sooner rather than later, so most likely not necessary to worry about sealing it if that's the case. Is it down to bare metal?

Simple question I know but, I would like to change the key unlock/lock function to:

                    Single press: unlock drivers
Double press: unlock all other doors
                    Boot: boot only

I've checked the manual twice now and can't find where it is. If anyone can give me the page reference or explain the process it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It's done via the MFD (using right hand side steering wheel buttons).

Can't remember the actual menu items description. But definitely is a convenience setting re doors.

Just play around with the MFD, think about the menus and what they mean and when you change setting check if that works and go to the menus again change it back as it was, check again that it works and finally go to the MFD menus again and change to setting you like. By then you should memorize it a bit, so it will be easier next time you use the MFD menus. You really need to spend some time with it; otherwise it is too many things at once to remember.
There is a reset option at the end of one menu, so if you muck it up you can always reset to the default.

Okay I've had a good play with the MFD menus and still can't resolve the problem. Does anyone know?

Side note, does anyone know when the next VW magazine is due out?

Mate, when you described what you wanted to do, i thought 'gee, didn't know you could do that', so gave it a try, found the menu & function in a brief jiffy & enabled it. Had it like this for a couple of days now & prefer it the old way, so will change it back. One thing i found is that it's not so much a double-click, but a click, then a 2nd click to unlock other doors. Like, wait half a second before the 2nd click...
                            I think it's in CONVENIENCE - doors - manual - or similar...

Had it on my Polo that's how I knew about it. Thanks, I was sure it would be in the connivence section, but manual never click in my mind.
