Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

i would avoid any acid or lye based wheel cleaner it will stuff your wheels eventually- Pboys IS acid based, there are many good options.

Thanks for the tips epilot. The local Bob Jane is much closer than Jax, so I'll take the Tig round there as soon as its delivered.

Will def use the Nanolex sparingly as Prodigy seemed to have the same issue with buffing and will stay clear of the acid based stuff, but I will only really start to look into it if the sealant doesn't do what i expect it to

I'm doing the RNS upgrade as one of my first projects so figure the VCDS will be handy to code up the nav stuff and clear errors... No doubt it will get it's fair share of use...

Thanks for the links about the products etc.. Very helpful!
You are welcome mate. Good find on dubaddiction! Keep us posted on how it goes as I'm looking at doing the RNS as well and the VCDS will def come in handy

No VCDS required for RNS510, if we're talking MY11 built Tiguans.

Will simply be plug n play.

Looking forward to it. Should be an interesting read. Good luck.

This is incorrect. You may still need to code with VCDS. It still is and will remain an option to be coded. In some cases you get your car coded already in which case it is simply plug and play and in other cases it is not precoded.

I have a MY09 that did not need RNS coding, but have had to code 2 MY11 VWs (Tiguan and Multivan) in the last 3 weeks.

Its the luck of the draw I'm afraid.

I'll have to agree with Sharkie regarding the RNS510. I swapped over my RCD510 to the RNS unit in the R and it required some VCDS coding to get all the functions and sound working correctly.
Others i know of have done little or no coding when swapping over. I'm guessing it would be similar in the Tiguan.

Damn VW. Can't make it simple can they lol

I'll just have to bite the bullet, get the RNS and see what happens. Then at least I know where to get the VCDS from

Thanks again for all the inormation guys - It's great hearing real life experiences

                  More Tig Mods already

Ok... So, I couldn't hold off.

I do remember saying that I wouldnt be getting anything else till the Tig actually arrived, but I just couldn't help myself

                  On the way:

                  a) Rear Chrome Strip

                  b) Door Sill Scuff Pates

                  c) Stainless Steel Window Trim

Ok. That might be it... for now

Though I think you can find knock offs on ebay or there are other sites that have similar and/or genuine parts

I also don't plan on using the whole window trim set - just the edging to replicate the 147 look

I like the scuff plates - Any idea how much the dealer price was for these? I imagine $99USD would be about 1/4 of the price??
