  • New Tiguan 125TSI DSG

I am a newbie, first post.
I just sold my 2009 forester XT, looking at a new Tiguan, or possibly Golf GTI Adidas,
looking at 125TSI DSG no options (maybee comfort pack), I would need to get an ECU upgrade but would like some feed back on this including are there any issues with 7 SP DSG and ECU (i read 7 speed not as strong as 6 sp ??), warranty issues, which one.
GTI is the car i really like, but Tiguan is most practical as i have 2 Km dirt road driveway.
Will be all country road driving, My car is basically my office. I was going to add third after market satnav/bluetooth ?
I need it to be as quick as forester XT (standard) but quieter on road and better handling. What are people paying for 125TSI DSG White (basic) Is 10% off standard retail a fair thing to aim for. Any suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks

Welcome .... The TSI Tiguans are essentially GTI's with AWD and slightly more space ....

On the TSI an ECU upgrade is a must .... 190kw/400NM on the 125TSI .... Comfortpack is also a must as it will give you climate control, auto lights and auto wipers.

Also make sure you get the Premium bluetooth from the factory.

You are confusing the Golf 7spd DSG with the Tiguan's. The 7sp DSG in the Tiguans are the newest and strongest DSG boxes yet, it will handle 550NM where the 6spds will only do 350NM and the Golf 7spd will only do 250NM. No issues here with the Tigs.

Don't bother going aftermarket. You can get the RNS510 OEM radio off ebay for $1000, saving you $2500 and close to the "rubbish" aftermarket ones in price.

Chipped manual TSI Tiguans will do quartermiles in 14.0-14.4s ..... 0-100 in 5.9-6.3s, more than a second quicker in both disciplines than the Forrester XT ..... (and quicker than a stock Golf R) .... DSG chipped TSI Tigs with launch control should be at least 0.5s quicker yet again.

All the OEM radios RCD310, RCD510 and RNS510 will through the factory Premium Bluetooth full integrate with the Iphone. RCD310 does it on a small black LED screen whereas the RCD510 and RNS510 does it really well on their colour screens.

Premium bluetooth means the MFD on the instrument cluster also shows lots of phone details. Its brilliant.

The colour screen OEM radios then take it to another level .... and the Ebay RCD510 and RNS510 you see will all fully integrate with no issues. Might need somebody to help you with some coding through VCDS for the RNS.

Are you talking specifically about the ones dubbed "remanufactured" and from Lithuania?

Has anyone here actually bought one of these from them? What's the feedback?

For that you could check the Audio section of the forum. From what I can see there people who bought from there are quite happy with their purchase.

I bought my RCD510 from Sydney, it was on ebay advertised as a brand new, never used and I could see the marks after the 4 bolts that hold the unit in the dashboard and radio had dirty fingerprints on it. What was even worst the supplied PIN didn't work I had to chase Ahmed (the seller) to give me the PIN as per unit's serial no. Luckily it all worked out at the end.

              Ok ... shall do!

I actually didn't realise that there was such a section.

              Thanks mate!

                premium bluetooth?

                sharkie,
i stumped for the 'premium bluetooth' and have no funcitonality from the MFD, i have the standard radio package not the sat nav, not sure if this makes a difference. the dealer told me that the 'premium premium bluetooth' $2k odd was not offered in australia because of the cost.

I just had my local mechanic almost scare me away from VW, he tells me spare parts are just rediculous prices.
The local NRMA bloke was also there and recon's that if it breaks down (like a new GTI with computer issues he had last week) then i am responsible to get it to nearest dealer. Is this true ?
So if i purchase Tiguan 125TSI DSG, i should add comfort pack/bluetooth/MDI, then purchase a RNS510 on ebay for about $1000 and get ECU Upgrade. Who is best to do ECU Upgrade in Sydney.
When is the next model of Tiguan due in Aus, should i be waiting, if so what's different.
                  Thanks.

I service and repair cars for leaving for more than 30 years and any late model car has very expensive spare parts.
You get 3 years roadside assist from VW, you also get a car from VW to drive for free till yours is repaired/serviced.
I let other to answer your other question(s).

Tiguan is probably the most reliable model from VW cars.

I have 1 of those very ones in my Tiguan ..... cost me $999 delivered by courier to me within 4 days after buying it. Was in perfect condition. Mine "came" from a seller in the UK, but was shipped from Lithuania.

It works perfectly and fully integrates with all the necessary goodies .... even my MFD worked perfectly without the need for VCDS coding. Its well worth the money, I know the official suppliers don't like it, but a real OEM RNS510 for less than a $1000 is just too hard to go past.

I like it so much I am buying another from the same guy ....

My understanding with the bluetooth is that if it is factory fitted it has full functionality (phonebook, etc) however if it is dealer fitted you can only answer and make calls. I'm not sure if this is what ppl are referring to above about the difference between normal and premium? And I could be wrong!

Be armed and ready with the options/colours you want and find out availability before you agree on a price. I was advised that the wait times can be upto 5 months for a specifically built one with 2011 BY and MY, but this could be different depending on your state/what is in stock/on order.

I'm interested to see feedback re: warranty and ECU upgrade.

                            Okay you've convinced me mate!

Just committed myself to buying one.

Had to haggle to get it down to your stated cost + $1.

Fingers cross it will be plug and play on my MY11 Tig with no VCDS hacking!

Otherwise, you might hear from me again asking for help (please)!
