    Body Mods

OK, I've spent quite a few hours trying to find some decent body mods for the Tig. I like the clean lines and sharp looks as is, but let's face it, there are more and more of these beauties on the road, and a vehicle needs its individuality...

Other than the VW factory bits (spoiler?) available as an after market accessory (is this even available in Australia?), I've struggled to find anything even half decent other than concept photos. I did however, finally stumble upon the LL Tek Motorsports modified Tig I think I like it!!!

This has now made it onto my list of modifications. Does anyone know if this is available locally through an official importer / distributor? Looking at pricing, it appears to be around US$5,500 or so for the full kit including rims.

      Nice Tig.

My understanding was that the Tiguan DOES NOT have the DSG gearbox, but rather a normal torque converter automatic.

yep looks great. I'd just go for the front spoiler and rear valance, skip the roof spoiler - looks goofy IMO, and not 100% on the flared wheel arches (would have to colour code them if I got them). Also needs to be lowered to get the full effect, but it's my choice.

Keep us informed if you have any luck sourcing it into Australia - I'm sure you'd be the first

BTW, anyone isntalled the "Sprint Booster"? http://www.lltek.com/volksgate/html/...ter_for_vw.htm

The Sprint Booster alerts your ECU that it should always be ready for the gas pedal to be "punched" and that when this happens it will deliver.

The bodykit you are looking for is done by Charactere.
The one you are looking at seems to be a copy/clone so i would look at the original ones (ABT, Charactere etc.)

I have read a thread on vortex about the sprintbooster and a lot of people have said not to bother and just go for the Stage 1 ecu remap.

Thanks, have found both the ABT and Caractere distributor here in Australia (same one, what a surprise)...the Caractere body kit I found was indeed genuine, just came from the US distributor (which for all intense and purpose looks like it may work out cheaper). Will advise once I've made a decision...bloody decisions!

                  APR vs ABT

Just got off the phone with Thomas from Ramspeed P/L in Sydney re installing the ABT cosmetic mods and the quad muffler on the Tig. He asked if I had or intended to make any engine modifications, and I mentioned that I was looking at an APR Stage 1 ECU remap. He of course suggested that the ABT remap was the way to go.

Does anyone have experience with the ABT remap? I've read plenty and had good feedback on the APR mod, so interested to hear what the ABT mod may have to offer?

ABT have plenty of work in the EU but i wasn't aware that they even had a tuner in Australia.
I went with APR because they are local, support is readily available and there has been a lot of people use them with no worries.

The ABT tune will likely result in similar power/torque figures as APR's.

How much is the Quad tip costing you?

also worth mentioning is that Simon's offsider at Autowerks, Mitch, is a factory trained VW mechanic,

Interesting, going to try and find some real world ABT figures to compare the upgrades. I can see the logic to lean towards APR as they're locally represented, and Stage 1 is just the tip of the Ice Berg.

As far as the exhaust is concerned, I haven't got a price for that only, just the full body kit including exhaust, bodykit, installation and paint, which is $13,000 inc. Some serious coin to make the Tig look different, so going to think this over for the next few days. End result should look like this for anyone interested...

                          Holy Bloody Hell!
13K is stupendous, i knew real ABT/charactere stuff was pricey but that is insane!
You could literally go to Stage 2 + K04 for that money and still have change left over.

I would do basic cosmetic mods to make your car stand out (coloured/new grill, new/coloured wheels, suspension work [coilies, bags, lift kit]

Let us know what you end up doing.

Finally managed to get a price just for the quad tip, as follows:

VW Tiguan – ABT rear skirt set with quad exhaust system:

                            Air Freight: $3,482 incl GST
                            Sea Freight: $3,197 incl GST
Fitment and painting: $1,765 incl GST.

So the best part of $5K minimum, but considering a new exhaust for a Golf R is around $3K, it's probably reasonable (and I use that word loosely!). As they say, a fool and his money are easily parted, and I just happen to be a fool!

And that is Catback only + new rear bumper??
Could be worse but the restrictive point is the downpipe and cat, not really the rest of the exhaust.

Don't do it! Even if you have the dough to blow!

Say "coitus interruptus" a few times in your head, if it helps!
