    Sidesteps for Tig

Has anyone purchased and fitted any after-market sidesteps for the Tig (either VW 'approved' or otherwise)? What's your experience with them and where, cost, etc?

      Discussed already in this thread:

BB: You think you can move this thread when you come across it.

OK, we are now in the Tiguan Side Steps thread. I just wish that some people were not lazy and used the search function or read through the pages or look at the stickies.

I would like to know how much the side steps help towards shielding dirt from coming in the dooropenings etc, you guys have any experience with this?
Alternatively, do the steps effectively catch all the crap that jumps up from dirt roads etc.?
            many thanks

Hi. I realise this thread is a bit old, but wondering if you ended up getting these and whether it had the desired effect (of keeping dust/dirt out of seals and rocks from hitting sills). I am "up north" too, and expect similar problem! Where abouts are you (I am on Atherton Tableland)?
            Cheers

I would buy the same sidestep that I have for the second time. Instead would go with something that is narrower, even if I had to use the mud flaps behind the wheels (eBay one for $45 set of 4).

Hi. Got front & rear mudflaps with the car new - still get the dust & stuff getting under bottom door seals though. Have looked more closely at Aussietig's info, might give the sidesteps a miss though - don't want to start chopping up my new baby (yet)!
                Cheers
P.S: while I got you (know it's on different topic but no replies yet), can you throw light on the inlet tube on side of manifold that I mentioned in "Wastegate Rattle Problem Solved" thread?

Hey Tiggy1, I did not get the sidesteps but did end up getting some mudflaps from ebay. Just not going offroad as much anymore, and will be happy to keep washing sills...I'll have to keep an eye out for you around Tolga, go there pretty regularly, walked (and drove partway) up Mt Emerald last weekend. I was impressed with how the Tig handled the track with the haldex kicking in regularly.

Cool. Thanks for that. I see in your signature that you've upped it to 189kw - was that APR, and what do you think of the difference?

Hi. Tried taking photo, but didn't turn out real well. Here are some piccies from erWIN Workshop Manual that show it (where I've drawn arrows).
                        Cheers

Tiggy1 - you need to host the photos online and then use the tags around the URL link.

Use something like ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting to upload the photos to, and then post those links.

Duh, thanks for that. Had to create Photobucket Account once before to do something similar - will try that.
