No need to be worried, anybody who have ever played with LEGO, MECCANO etc. should be able to install them - following the installation instructions in the link I posted above. (By following these instructions you will find out that instead of riveted nuts they use the sq. sliding nuts.)

Not much, cause aussietig was told he would have to order 100+ for the price to drop just a little bit. It's not worth it. Also it would be a good idea to see the steps fitted to the car.
I'm not sure but I think he mentioned he could sell his just to see how they fit and get steps for his Tig when it arrives with the next order. Worthwhile to ask him if (anybody) you're serious.
I can make the sq. sliding nuts (replacement for the rivet nuts) and post to anyone who would want.Performance Tunes from $850Wrecking RS OCTAVIA 2 Link

Yes ... I would be interested in seeing the steps installed on someone else's Tig, whilst waiting for delivery of mine.
So please PM me if anyone in Sydney is seriously interested in buying them off me and prepared to pick them up, install and post the pics afterwards.
NOTE: I would only be offloading them at cost and proof of that can be provided upon request.
Yes, I would be interested in the sliding nuts Transporter. What sort of cost is involved?Last edited by aussietig; 18-08-2010, 11:43 PM.MY11 Tiguan 147TSI (SOLD)

In order to get the ball rolling and finalise numbers to submit a shipping quote, I'm gonna suggest an absolute deadline of 10.00am this Friday, 27th August to register your interest.
So far, I believe the following members are interested:
1. BigTig
2. Nobita88
NOTE: By "interested", I mean seriously prepared to pay up to $283 USD + share of the bank charges for a T/T
So if that's still you ... then could I please ask that you just copy the last list that you can see in this thread and add your name to the bottom of that list. Then on Friday morning, I'll just return to this thread and go with the final list.
Thanks!Last edited by aussietig; 24-08-2010, 02:44 AM.MY11 Tiguan 147TSI (SOLD)

If we all like that then nobody would be buying iPhone 4s.
Besides ... we're all Tiguan owners! As if you let the size of the pathethic boot deter you (whilst every weekend you reassure your nagging wife that it's not a hassle at all, loading and unloading the second pram off the roof racks).
Anyhow, I think Transporter's the authority in this area!Last edited by aussietig; 25-08-2010, 02:03 AM.MY11 Tiguan 147TSI (SOLD)

Well you, probably will have to take the step off, in order to use the factory supplied jack. How ever that is relatively easy done, at least on the steps that came with our Tig. The instruction say that you need to only lose 6 bolts (M6x1) in the aluminium. step, since the holes are open, so 1/2 turn only on each and slide the step 1cm or less forward that will allow the step to be lifted up, it may take 2 minutes if you're not handy at all.
Step from the road up. Showing 2 bolts, there are 3 brackets holding aluminium step.
The other option is get different jack and get familiar with floorplan of your Tig to get to know where are the alternative jacking points.
On happier note: It's not something you will do too often.
I had to replace flat tyre on the road once only on our last car that we had for 11 years.Last edited by Transporter; 24-08-2010, 05:50 PM.Performance Tunes from $850Wrecking RS OCTAVIA 2 Link

aussietig
sorry for not responding correctly to your question regarding Sydney group buy only...
I'm not a SYDNEY buyer but..., at Sydney prices plus freight to FNQ I would still be interested...
cheers

FWIW, each step is also held on with 6 bolts also to 3 brackets.
Pictured below is just 2 of 6 sliding washer/nut on the rear underside of the step.
So I'd imagine in a worse case scenario, you'd undo the 6 bolts to remove the step altogether, with the 3 brackets still left intact.

But I guess there's no harm seeing how much would be your GB share of the total cost.
However, you'd definitely have to organise the courier pickup from the designated GB address [TBC].MY11 Tiguan 147TSI (SOLD)

If not, then maybe that is something that can be done, to speed up removal (2 small cuts with the hacksaw).Performance Tunes from $850Wrecking RS OCTAVIA 2 Link

However due to the number of ppl interested (which at best was 3 by my count), the company has confirmed this afternoon that there's no saving whatsoever on DHL shipping, on such a small order.
In other words, still charged $150 USD per set for delivery. Realistically, they've indicated we need to be talking at least 20 plus!
Anyhow for you guys that responded and still want to go ahead with this, please just email them directly to place your own order. As mentioned, it will cost you $283 USD.
Same applies to anyone else who subsequently wants one!
