The S3 intercooler isn't really needed as yet, maybe when summer hits i will upgrade that.

It would help out but the law of diminishing returns means it won't be worth doing until later.
Probably october when the warmth comes back to bite me.

Next up is the downpipe, then intake then springs if the dollar gets over 90 US cents.

Team_v is getting the only 3" APR DP in existence .... it is the prototype and RRP for production units to be around $1995 I believe. Its full stainless and includes a high flow CAT. Makes 7kw atw extra dyno tested. Another 3kw atw can be liberated by doing the rear silencer but thats going to be another $1500+-.

Was on my Tiguan, but since my wife did not like the sound it makes and the Tig is hers, I gave up fighting the inevitable and let it go ....

Our Tig is now exactly where she wants it and so it will stay from now on. Last mods are original VW rear OPS to be fitted this weekend and a fully integratedBlue tooth kit. I'm moving on to other cars to mod now.

Enjoy the DP team_v, it makes a nice sound when gunning it (in my opinion in contrast to my wife) and the extra power is noticable.

Steve, the Tiguans already have a frount mount, in fact it is identical to the MK6 GTIs (as is the engine).

S3 intecooler is 30% larger and a direct replacement. APR intercooler is 100%+ larger but also a bit $$$$

It was on my to-do list, but no more ..... (sigh)

            • Thanks for the extra info Sharkie.
I knew we had a front mount but it is relatively small compared to the S3 and the APR version.

Cheers for that Sharkie, worth noting! I'm guessing maybe a custom one would have been a cheaper solution possibly?

                • So i managed to test out the 4Mo system this morning with the wet weather.

Launched pretty hard from teh stop line at the traffic lights, slight wheel spin for an instant, then it kicked in, and i was off like a bullet.
Traffic light stops are pretty bad for wet weather launches from my experience due to the shoddy cars that drop oil on teh road and the white painted lines = no traction.

Also experienced just how good the nanolex paint sealant is.
Came out to the water beading on the car and it just ran off when i accelerated or braked hard enough.
Also makes light work of cleaning the brake dust off the wheels.

Dollar is dangerously close to 90 US cents so springs should be ordered when we hit that benchmark.

Another thing to note that wasn't explained to me earlier:
When the cruise control is activated, the lever on the end of the indicator stalk (used to activate cruise control) will increase or decrease set speed by 1km/h increments.
I didn't read that part in teh manual and wasn't told this by the salesman but still interesting to work out.

Going down for a visit later this afternoon.
Will update with pics late tonight/tomorrow for you all.

                      • So far the only performance bit is the ecu eremap which says 189kw at the wheels.
Will have to take it along toa dyno day when there is one arranged to get it tested properly.

I do know that it is a jeckyl and hyde car.
Below 2.5k RPM it is a daily soccer mum car with soft-road capability.
Over 2.5k it punches you in the spine and rams you forward blindingly quick.

The DGS-7 should be matched quite well to the upgraded power for road use, however it will fail for towing/soft-roading and i fear the mechatronic unit costs so i am happy to have the manual.

Picked up a new bit of go-fast from them.

Also have the car booked in at Mike Webber's on Tuesday next weekto get the downpipe fitted up and the intake installed.

The RRP for a production version is $1995 and it's going to cost $200 to fit (labour charges)

Should have a nice review for you guys on Tuesday night with the downpipe, intake and stage 2 tune.

Fuel economy might take a hit as it's sitting on 7.8L/100km average now.
