  • Winter power

Good to have some cold moist mornings and evenings back again. I reckon it's got to be good for at least another 10kw, if not more compared to a summer's day. Amazing the difference it makes to the Tig.

Really? I haven't noticed. Mine feels the same summer or winter.

Yes, I can't feel any difference either.

Won't be much of a difference on the stock cars. However the chipped TSIs will have more POWER .....

Similar result can be had all year round by upgrading the intercooler .... S3 / APR / Other ... any larger FMIC with better airflow will do .....

After the brake upgrade I'll be going that route ....

Cause you drive normally and standard Tig has plenty of usable power for normal driving. How ever you should notice the small improvement in the fuel economy.

Maybe the small improvement in fuel economy comes from not using the aircon when it's cold.

phew, I was begining to think it was all in my head. Difference bewtween hot summers day and cool misty night is significant.

Which leads me to think that bigger intercooler would be very good upgrade with the CAI for the Tig.

Of course I could just move to NZ!

My diesel is noticably down on power when its just started on these cold mornings. Makes leaping out into traffic from my driveway a heart-stopping adventure.

What solutions have you looked into as far as intercoolers go Sharkie? and Clip for that matter!?

I'm quite interested in this too... S3 seems the cheaper option, but APR make a very good product. What else is out there? Would be so cool if Forge make a "Twintercooler" product for the Tiguan

Do you know of anyone that's done the intercooler in the Tig?

                      Cheers.

Essentially any GTI intercooler upgrade will work. The only bit that requires some work is the piping which is slightly different (and I mean very slightly)

So the Forge option is useable .... however, I know of a few people using (or that have used and ditched) the Forge intercoolers that experience significant boost pressure drops ... in the order of 4-6PSI ... so beware ...

I'm keen on a S3 upgrade and will do this if I can find a local S3 intercooler (from somebody who has upgraded from that), otherwise it will be APR for me.

the s3 intercooler on ecs tuning is only US$337 - compared to the US$1049 for the APR... The APR might perform better, but not 3x better!!
If I had the bucks, maybe then...

As far as Forge goes - i was referring to their "Twintercooler" system - a secondary intercooler ont op of the standard one - quite a cool concept.
                          see link below:
                          Forge Motorsport | Alloy Fabrication

Apparently quite large gains from this

Do you know exactly what the issue is with hoses and the S3 kit? I'm VERY curious...

Yeah, I know how the twincooler work and have no issues with the concept. I do have an issue with the fact that a few people (not all) have had boost losses with the Forge stuff. It seems more a manufacturing problem rather than a design problem ....
