Fitted a set of Dunlop Grandtrek AT3's went from 215/65/16 to 235/60/16. Almost the same diameter but with a bit wider thread.
Not as stable at 160km/h+ as the HP Duller HT tyre but no wind noise and comfortable on bad roads.2009 2.0TSI ATOM intake - Lift Kit - 235/60/16 Dunlop GrandTrek AT3

Michelin XM2 60,000 on the front pair and I replaced them with the same. The back tyres still have another 10,000 in them. But, all highway driving. Quiet, cool running and long lasting tyres. Pirelli's on the Prado. The Tiguans are very light on tyres I have found. (125K in a 2011 TDI 103)

All I've had on mine is Hankook Dynapros. "If it ain't broke..."
I read the hell out of forums/threads around the internet, and combined with my experience, I couldn't find a reason to change. My Tiggy's a diesel, but full of "spirited driving" real mix of urban/hwy.
I bought from my Dad @82,000KM, and he insisted on including a new free set on it (there was still 1000's of KM left!).
135,000KM now, and I'm sure it's still on that 3rd set (would have to check receipts/dates)... still plenty of meat on them.

Hi, need to replace the Pirelli Scorpions - got high 30ks out of them but hated them in the wet, espec on roundabouts. Have standard 215/65/16 wheels.
Looking at either Bridgestone Dueler HP sport or B'stone Turanza T001 based on reviews of their wet braking and handling.
Any of you used either of those?
Cheers

If you don't go off road, you should consider dedicated road tyres such as Yokohama C-Drive or similar; whatever matches size/rating/budget. You'll get better grip on the road instead of a tyre that is a compromise for road/off-road.

Or similar road based tyre such as the Michelin Agilus or Energy XM2 (we had a Toyota Van with Energy XM2 and they stuck like poo on your shoe).
Maybe even the Cooper CS4
Unfortunately, there isn't a huge choice of semi-sporty highway tread patterns in that size.
Think about going to a 235/60r16 if it will fit on the rim. There's a tiny bit more choice in that size and the tyres a usually a bit cheaper.

Got my 3rd set of tyres since buying teh Tig back in 2010 put on today. Although I feel my experiment running the Pirelli Scorpion 225/70R16's went well and the tyres lasted a long time, I am just not doing the offroad driving I expected to so I've gone back to the stock size. Fitted a set of Hankook Optimo K415 215/65R16's.
My original tyres that came with the vehicle (Bridgestone Duelers I think) I changed at around 48,000km back in Sept 2011 (http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...tml#post717909). The clock now shows just over 150,000km so I have managed to get a pretty staggering 104,000km's on these tyres!
Hopefully these Hankook's are decent enough tyres to last a fair while, but I'll be impressed if I get much more than 50,000 to 60,000 km's out of them.sigpic

[Recommendation] New Tyres
I am after tyre replacement for my tig today but have been told that dunlop no longer make sportmaxx RT in 235/55R17. The workshop suggested I should go for sportmaxx 050+ instead. Any comments? What about RT2 or BS S001?
