Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Only found that out after I ordered a Toureg camera from Oskar.
Got a website or anything for them?

I can't find anything on google.

I have asked the same question in another thread but can an aftermarket camera be connected the same way to the RCD510?

yes maybe, see Mavericks site my-gti.com.He has the pinout diagram which suggests you can connect a video input ,not sure about auto switching on reverse though as no one has tried it so far.As the rcd510 can auto display the reverse parkers it should be do able.Alot of people waiting in the wings for this.

The installers told us there is no fix for this, so we are left with a very useless camera installed on a very expensive car!
Are you able to get hold of a genuine adapter that would be installed if you ordered the camera option from the factory, is there such a thing?

The kufatec adapters are fairly buggy and dont always work when reverse is selected, as i tried one out for a while with the RNS-510. Better off getting the OEM stuff as per Mav's MK6 GTI Badge Camera install (haven't got around to it myself yet).

              Road rager Cam

Ok - slightly off-topic - I have my camera installed now with my AVC9000-1. I was thinking it would be much more useful having it as a dashboard mounted camera looking forward, as the US police have on those TV shows.
The RNS-510, AVC9000-1 and similar all have provision for HDD or SD storage. To record would just be a software function addition, as far as I see it.
All you really want is about 5 or 10 min buffer. Get a road-rager (as I did the other day), stop the recording, and email it to the Road Traffic Authority - or if involved in a traffic accident, it could make solving the dispute simple.

We have overcome this problem, unfortunately we need to vehicle in Brisbane to carry out the modifications for the retrofit. It is a long known problem of the clash between OPC (Optical park) and Camera retrofits

                  Help with retofit camera needed

                  Hi!
                  I need advice.

I ordered my Tiguan with Factory Sat Nav and MDI. Picked it up. 2 weeks later found out that I do not have factory Sat Nav (it was installed by dealer) and no MDI.
When I asked dealer they said they sourced car as best they could and gave me one with Park Assist instead!

They say they can retrofit MDI and a reversing camera BUT I will loose the Park Assist feature (where the car parks itself). I have 2 questions:
                  1. Will the reto fit MDI be in the centre console same as factory fit
                  2. Can the camera be fitted without losing my Optical Park Sensors or Park Assist and will it have same functionality as factory fit.

Would appreciate any help, feel a bit dudded, but love the car

                  Thanks

I assume the dealer would normally retro fit the MDI into the glove box, which is where i installed mine. Not too fussed and the glove box gets some aircon which would help if the ipod gets hot etc but wouldn't mind it in the arm rest either (dont really put much in there anyway but depends which you prefer).

The dealer told someone on Golfmk5 that you cannot run the RVC & Park Assist together ... one or the other regarding the radio display. Park sensors still beep, but you either have the RVC or the computer based silhouette.

So you may be better to just go for one item, rather than both.

It would be good having the auto dipping side mirror (posible with the reverse parking sensors) but not sure I'd personally spend $1400 on park assist.

                      Hi G - rig,

Prefer to have MDI in centre console as it would be difficult to access my iphone in the glovebox.

Park assist is a neat feature, just sit there and operate the brake and the car parks itself. Shame to loose it if I have a RVC installed.

                      Thanks for your response.

Dealer fitted MDI goes in the glovebox, maybe you can convince them to pull all the trim down to retrofit it in the centre console. Personally, I don;t see much difference. Neither would have you, if they hadn't forgotten to fit it.
Mirror dip on reverse is settable with a CANTool, its not a normal function available, and I think it would be more confusing than helpful.
The latest version of the RNS-510 software (which I think is beta) allows the reverse sensors to be overlayed on the RVC picture. As noted above, there is a software limitation. Talk to Guy (above) to get the detail, and a fix, possibly. He may even be able to arrange a console fit MDI.
Park Assist is a great party trick. Usually I forget to turn the while thing on in time, and park the normal way. But if I paid for it I'd want it to work

After a long wait Finally have received and installed the FIscon bluetooth, upgraded my FW to 2720 from 0900 . Now my Rns510 has bluetooth voice activation and phone control. Daisy chained the Fiscon mic thru the RNS510 mic in/out for the voice control

(Believe that the FW upgrade also fixes the compatibilty of the reverse camera (at least the OEM one) and the ODS from the parking sensors)

Comments the EMFA displays the Correct speed not the inflated speedo value.

the boost pressure display toggles 5 different different values. units including 0 & off- control by the up arrow on the MF steering wheel
THe remaining fuel display can be toggled to display temperatiure - control the down arrows on the MF wheel

My only compaint would be that "Auto gainl control??" on the RNs 510 MIC input causes some distortion of voice commands

Team_v, when its back (and you have your car), happy to get together to do the fitment. I got a RVC during the week (as well as SatNav) so want to fit mine as well.

Figure the 2 of us working together can get it done better than 1 on his own.

Sounds like a good idea mate.
2 hands are better than 1.

Just need to get the picture guide (since i don't want to f&#k my brand new interior) and then when the car arrives (late may) should be good to meet up and get the camera's installed.

                                Installation pictures are back!

OK Ive upload the photos to flickr and the links are all working again. Ive added a note about can high and low wires in RED in the body of the guide that you should be aware of.

For all those of you that require a signal wire off the reverse lights (in case you have another IMA other than kufatec or a non RNS510 screen) the reverse light wires are in the right side back small hatch (at least for a RHD car). open the hatch and down the bottom you will see 3 wires that go down into the floor of this small area.Negative is brown. The other two wires are both positive ( one for each reverse light). You can use wiretaps to tap into either of the two positive wires.
