    Cheap Bluetooth kit

I've found and installed a basic bluetooth kit in my Tiguan now.

It integrates with the steering wheel controls so you can control volume, mute and answer/hang-up the phone from the buttons on the steering wheel.

Bear in mind that it is a basic kit and does not integrate with the MFD .... but then the price is VERY good. It is easy to install - plug and play ... with provisions below ...

    You need this:

    Parrot CK3000 Evo Bluetooth kit - $184

    Parrot Bluetooth

    and:

    VW2Connect for CANBUS interface - $180

    Connects 2

All up $364 + shipping .... far cheaper than anything else ....

**NB** make sure you tell them to change the wiring on the VW2Connect 1st before sending it to you as the wiring is incorrect out of the box ...

      Sharkie, did you install yourself?
alternatively, as I'm not very good with this stuff, is it something you would ask your local installer to put in, or VW dealer?

      thanks

Yes, did it myself, its very easy to do, just plug and play. I'll pull it apart again this weekend and take some pictures. For only about $380 including shipping its far cheaper than anything else out there.

          12V Air Compressor

If anybody is interested there is an air compressor on sale for $99 at Repco until 17/10/10

It appears to be the same as Projecta twin pump which I'm using in my Mobile Workshop Van for almost 6 months now. Topping up 12-16 tyres per day. It is quieter than my Blue Tongue twin pump and inflate as quickly as Blue Tongue. It is completely sealed unit and could be installed permanently under the car. Thats why I will use it in our Touareg. I believe there could be space somewhere under the Tiguan floor as well.

I turned my Tig into the ultimate shopping trolley...

But before you say 'boy, that's ugly', it's not up there permanently, it's a purpose-built luggage rack from Rhino. Will only be attached to the racks for camping trips which i plan on embracing a fair bit in the coming months . I have one of those oztent RV's (erects in under a minute) & it just doesn't fit length-wise in the back with the seats down...
Hoping to give it a try-out this weekend. Photos to come!

              Personalization!

So... Everyone likes to add a few personal touches to their ride! Some are more extreme & adventurous than others, but it's nice to have something a little bit different to the heard.

Just a few photo's of mine evolving, more to come!

              Here we go: have had this hanging from the rear-view mirror of a '72 merc 250, a '74 Galant, a '79 subaru, a '93 hilux, & now a '10 Tiggy! The hook's wearing thin!

Still lovin' the VMR 713 19x8.5, more & more!

Finally got these Sparco pedals on!

Also got one of these blingy dipstick grips from Gruvenparts... HOT! Who would have thought that?

Still got a few ideas, shall update as necessary!

              Matt.

                Dipstick grip looks pretty funky!
Wheels I am not so sure on, i think the matte black (?) looks good on most wheels but against white it needs to be gloss black imho.
Still a great design and the size is spot on

                        I'm considering a complete 'de-badge'...
Would some heat (hairdryer, HOT water, etc) be enough to melt the glue or are the OE badges fixed more seriously?

I used fishing line to "saw" left and right behind the badge while pulling downwards from the top of the badges.
After that i ended up trying to peel the glue off, then hit it with some boiling water and dishwashing liquid.

Finally i used tea tree oil or eucalyptus oil to clear up any last bit of sticky residue and gave the boot a wash.

There is probably nothing better than fishing line, but for removing the glue residue, I'm using WURTH brake cleaner, but any brand brake cleaner that leaves no residue will do the job, however testing it first on non visible surface is highly recommended.

Speaking of non-performance accessories, this one's a rare find:
eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home d

I would snap this up in a heartbeat (if only it could allow me to bid more than $69). Seriously an insult to all Tig owners @ that liquidation price.
