Maybe the Australian distributor has gone broke.
I doubt Sumitomo has - they are a huge company & sell a lot more than tyres.

you will probably need an 8.5 wide wheel to fit 255's.

Breyton BE's or some enkei's are light weight.
I liked the Ultraleggera but those were only 8" width

Damn.. I really want to try upsizing from the standard 235 tyres.

I saw a friend's Audi Q5 with one of these

Man the P40 looks damn gorgeous

      • Yup I agree w u Brad...! I too dont believe Sumitomo group themselves would collapse. But yea I think Tyre Factory possibly being the key distributor to Au wld be the key reason behind it.

But how odd that it's so hard to find any Sumitomo's!!!

        • Looks like there're a lot of replica P40s around. These are supposed to be about 8kg for a 19" rim which isn't too bad, I think.

          What's the offset for a Tiguan for a 19x8.5?

              • Thanks.

But +45 offset is not right for Tiguans right?

                    FWIW, my wheels are +42.

So I think it would be fine!

BTW, what is the weight of the GTCX reps HaywireTig?

Funny thing is they are allegedly VMR reps (but unconfirmed).

                    • One reason I am a bit concerned about the offset is if I eventually get a big brake upgrade kit

                        no importer = no stock.

There would have been some signs before they went under & therefore the retailers would have stopped buying.

If you are buying from tirerack, try & buy something that has a presence in Australia - just in case you need to buy a single tyre in the future

                        • I'd have a look at Sumitomo's website: Sumitomo - Store Locator

But I don't know how up to date their database is.

                          • Good tip Brad. Might think of that... Hmmmm maybe the Falken F452's...?? Directional tyres tho... Directional tyres are a lot noisier when they start to wear out I heard? Is that true?

Yes Diesel... I too am not sure how updated their website store locator is. That's the one I referred to, to call stockings for pricing. But none I cld contact.

                            • I don't like directionals because you can't x-rotate them them.

If you're going to buy through tirerack then get something decent. Michelin or Conti or Goodyear F1A2
