They do in the States, they have some funky emissions laws. In Oz if it's sealed it's ok

Lack of tuning options

With my Tig having its free 1000km checkup tomorrow, it will be ready to start getting the mods I have planned for it from next week onwards.

Since this is the family runaround, performance mods will be limited to the following:

ECU upgrade
CAI
H&R Suspension
18" RS4 wheels & 235/50/18 tyres.

In the future (distant future) a downpipe & K04 upgrade may be on the cards. Serious mods will be left to the Golf R due Q3 next year.

With that in mind I have been looking around at some of the Tuners for the ECU upgrade (tried and tested previous APR user and happy with their products, but having a look to see what is out there) and found a distinct lack of product & vehicle knowledge with regards to the Tiguans on offer in Australia.

Some "tuners" had no knowledge of the 125TSI and in some cases thought it had a 1.8T engine and DSG gearboxes ..... Someone even said 1.4TSI to me ...... Many USA based tuners had upgrades for the 147TSI only with no idea as to what the effect of that tune would be on a 125TSI ..... (understandable as its not available as a model in the USA)

Yet again it seems there is only 1 tuner in Oz that have taken the time to work on and implement a solution for the Oz specific cars ..... again the old saying .... you get what you pay for seems appropriate ....

Powerchip is 1 of those companies I would under no circumstances recommend to any VW driver. I have heard some shocking stories come out of VW owners who tried them before. Including a late good friend of mine of this very forum. He ended up with APR later ......

If you drive a Hyundai etc etc, I'd say yeah go for it, but no modern VW/Euro car .....

EDIT:

AND in classic Powerchip style, see how the Mk5 GTI delivers the same power chipped. They know its a 2.0T so just used the figures they have for the GTI for the 2 TSI Tiguans. Tiguans uses the Mk6 GTI engine and is different to the Mk5 ........

Why?
My farther has one (e55) and I had one (e39 M5 sold) and both are/were great. No problems. (BTW I am not associated with them at all)
Pretty high tec cars.
