Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 00016 'A' Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit/Open (Bank1)

A few weeks ago I changed the oil in my 200k km 2014 Tiguan, at the same time I replaced the Upper Timing Chain Cover Gasket 06H103483 and Timing Chain Cover Gasket for Magnet N91000101 as they were leaking oil. The car then had some sensor issue which I fixed by removing the oil filter and refitting the cable to the sensor behind it.
Yesterday it started to run terrible, after connecting the OBD scanner, I found it had a misfire on cylinder 1, when I removed the coil pack for cylinder 1 there was petrol in it and around the spark plug, so I replaced all the spark plugs and the car ran fine, then today I have the ECU light on, reading "00016 'A' Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit/Open (Bank1)", no other codes. I am wondering if I moved some cables in the process that are now throwing this error, the car drives fine.
Any recommendation on where to start?
