  • 2014 Tiguan TDI; Throttle Controller Installation

    Hi,

I am trying to install a throttle controller on my 2014 Tiguan, but I can not for the life of me work out where there the connector is. I can't find any diagrams of the accelerator assembly anywhere online, and also cant work out a way to remove the carpet from the area to get a better look.

Has anyone installed a throttle controller on a 2014 Tiguan, and if so, any hints?

Reaching up behind the lower dash area, I find nothing either...

    Thanks

Has the Tiguan got a floor mounted throttle pedal (like the Golf of the same era) or a more traditional top mounted throttle pedal? Either way the plug will be there somewhere. If its a floor mounted pedal then the plug may be under the carpet and require removal of the pedal to access?

I installed a throttle controller on my TDI Audi SQ5 and it has a floor mounted throttle pedal, and the wiring harness for the throttle was visible and accessible just behind the pedal itself.

A couple of clear photos of your cars throttle pedal would help.

That's not an especially helpful comment, and also shows a lack of direct personal experience with these devices. "Putting your foot down harder" is not a substitute for a throttle controller.

            Hi mate.

            Thanks for the info!

Yes, it is a floor mounted unit. There is a single torx bolt fastening it to the floor.

I pulled the carpet away a bit and I think you are right that the connector is down at the pedal. I can't work out how to get the carpet out however...

I'll get a photo for you

I found a pedal online for sale. This shows where the connector is, so you were right; it is tucked away deep behind it.

Will have to get my fingers behind it and wriggle it out like a champ.

...turns out it is impossible to unplug this connector without removing the pedal. I dont want blindly yank on the cable without seeing it, as this may damage it and make my car undrivable.

Anyone had any luck taking out the pedal unit in this car? I can only see one torx bolt about halfway up the unit. I have removed that but the bottom of the unit near the hinge is still lodged in the floor...

The part in pink sits into the floor. It seems to move about a bit when I pull on it, but I cant find any fasteners for it and again, dont want to pull hard on it.

                    Any clues?

It looks to be this style of pedal if I'm not mistaken:
