I wouldn't hold my breath. VW doesn't activate some features for marketing purposes and, unless you have good connections, local dealers won't override those decisions. If they activate them concurrently and the word gets out imagine how people rush to service centres to get those not originally activated features activated. That's not what VW wants and that's not what service centres want.2017 Tiguan Highline 162TSI DAP, Sunroof, Black

I think you have misunderstood. (correct me if I'm wrong).Originally posted by Rocket36 View PostDid you even bother to read previous posts?
DAP is Driver Assist Package that you can add to your car depending on model etc. This (DAP) comprises of a number of features, HOWEVER in Australia SOME features are Excluded from this package. IT IS ONLY these features (such as Traffic Jam Assist) that we are discussing here regarding turning them on off whatever. You need to have this package first, then you need to see what is enabled/dissabled from this package on your vehicle. Hope this clarifies.Last edited by ArdiL; 22-03-2018, 09:54 AM.

Nothing is free and software upgrades for new cars within warranty period is going to be impossible to charge for in Australia.Originally posted by sharp View PostI wouldn't hold my breath. The Germans are clever, If they have released TJA active Tiguans in Australia then they might inform us to enable this feature on previous (compatible) models we would require a FREE software upgrade However we would need to pay for a new sensor, radar or camera that the new software is dependant on. Something along these lines is what I would assume.

That is not the case at all, it can be turned on in cars with the DAP AND that had TJA activated at the factory. Saying it can be "turned on in cars with DAP" is misleading and wrong because there are a lot of cars out there prior to the time it was factory activated that do not have TJA activated from the factory. Mine was one such car BTW, manufactured in 2016. In fact to be very pedantic it can't be turned on or off as such, there is no independent switch to do so. This last point has led to people questioning if they have it at all because TJA has only one indicator of it working and that is easily missed. The first time I drove a car with it I came away unconvinced it was working but I subsequently found out that it had been but the conditions I was driving in meant it was switching in and out due to the road markings.Originally posted by Rocket36 View PostYes. Having just travelled the Great Western Highway from Sydney to Bathurst and back in Easter traffic, I can honestly say ACC and TJA are a godsend. What a neat piece of tech to take the stress out of a long weekend road trip. I never really saw the value in it until now.
ACC kept me away from double demerits and TJA kept me sane and the stiffness in my right ankle at bay in the queues.
If you don’t have it, I highly recommend you get it activated if your Tiguan is compatible.Tiguan Highline 162TSI | Indium Grey | DAP | MY18

Not sure about manual but I can assure you Traffic assist works beautifully. I use it regularly in heavy Melbourne traffic below 30kmph and both lane assist works and ACC stops/starts car when car in front moves. This makes city driving a less stressful experience. The only issue I have with the system is that it doesn’t recognise Keep Clear areas, as it can’t detect then.Originally posted by Carolco View Postafter reaDing Many forums i Still dont know If traffic jam assist is posible to configúrate in manual transmisión car. Or If the lane assist can lower the activación speed below 65km/h?MY18.5 Tiguan - R-Line/DAP/Sunroof in Tungsten Silver

But don't you need to step on the gas pedal when the car in front moves if you use ACC?Originally posted by portas1971 View PostNot sure about manual but I can assure you Traffic assist works beautifully. I just tested mine, it is probably less than 3 seconds, especially because the engine stops quicker and when the engine stops, the ACC will need you to step on the accelerator to restart.Originally posted by Jap View PostOnly after 3 seconds of being stationary otherwise it will pull off automatically
Otherwise TJA (I didnt know it's called this until today) is available in my 2017 by default and it works together with Lane Assist on lower speeds too (30-40 kmph)MY18 VW Tiguan Comfortline

ACC does that on its own, TJA is ACC + Dynamic Lane Assist where the car self steers in 13 second blocks. I can't recall when it was but it came in with the first upgrades so whenever that happened.Originally posted by PeteC View PostI just tested mine, it is probably less than 3 seconds, especially because the engine stops quicker and when the engine stops, the ACC will need you to step on the accelerator to restart.

after the 3 seconds if the car in front pulls away the car will restart the engine but you have to either press the resume button or tap the accelerator to follow the car againOriginally posted by PeteC View PostI just tested mine, it is probably less than 3 seconds, especially because the engine stops quicker and when the engine stops, the ACC will need you to step on the accelerator to restart.
