As far as my (extremely limited) understanding is, adaptive lane guidance setting within the DAP feature 'Advanced Lane Guidance' can give a better experience with lane guidance IF you find that the car is 'ping-ponging' between the lane markers whilst locked in a lane. Intervention (when the car steers for you to adjust lane positioning) can be set to 'early' or 'late' and additionally will give you a new menu option in the car menu.

I don't know which setting gives a better result, but I think the point is it gives you a little configuration of the feature which from factory is not exposed to the driver.

Lastly FLA (front light assist) is as far as I know High Beam Assist (HBA). This feature also uses the A5 camera module, but in this case to monitor the road ahead so that high beam is automatically dipped for approaching traffic, or if you approach another vehicle from behind.

Not to be confused with DLA of course (Dynamic Light Assist) which is effectively HBA+, for vehicles with variable light distribution LED headlamps...

Except for point 1. ? Seems contradictory with point 7.
With TJA, you can engage ACC at say 70, then use the cruise buttons on the wheel to progressively lower the speed to say 40, and lane guidance will stay active.
Likewise you can be driving at 30km/s, engage ACC and lane guidance will (provided of course that the road markings are sufficient for the system to pick them up) go active also.

I'm always confused about this stuff because I don't own an MQB car and I only ever see this stuff for a short while to confirm it's working after activating it.

I think turning on the Adaptive Cruise in point 2 is the key. I get confused as I never turn ACC off and can't think why it would need to be turned off.

Ok that makes sense.

If lane guidance is turned on the car menu, it will engage automatically IF above 67km/h.
But to engage it below 67km/h it needs to be manually invoked by hitting set for ACC.
This is TJA.

You are correct in that a speed needs to be set. In a moving stream of traffic I usually set the ACC speed to about 10KPH above the speed the traffic is moving at. This keeps the space between my vehicle and the one in front constant as my vehicle is always trying to go faster and the active space setting radar thingy keeps the space if the car in front of me increases speed.

You now see how confusing it all is, you thought you did not have TJA and suddenly now you have all because VW does a ****ty job at education and we have to learn these things as we go along. My son runs education nights for new owners at the dealer he works for, unfortunately that is another brand but all dealers should be doing this.

dragging up an old thread I came across this ad.
Traffic Jam Assist activation service - Sydney

Looks like it can be activated if you have $150 to spare. i also noticed that the new Sportline has TJA.
What's even more annoying is that the specs brochure from September says ALG and TJA come with the Driver Assistance Package which they definitely did not.

Rang my dealer today asking to enable TJA on my car and was told that TJA is available by default if your car is optioned with DAP on 2018 model but not on 2017 model (which I have). I said it definitely can be enabled on 2017 model (you know, based on this forum). So he is going to double check with the service department and get back to me.

No it's the marketing term used to describe the collection of features like lane assist and adaptive cruise. It differs by model and year as to what the DAP exactly contains.
