  • Production for the MY18.5 started at week 45 builds which would mean around the second week of November unfortunately.

I have just ordered a Tiguan 162 with all 3 packages and disappointed to hear this..
Hmm I'll double check this, but I'm pretty sure that's exactly what my Tiguan was doing.

What you have to do with (time and experience) is try to (detect) catch a car that is still moving at the lights ahead.
HOWEVER One thing you have to be careful of is when ACC i slowing you down by following the (guide) moving car infront (approaching the traffic lights), lets say you are almost at the lights with some traffic build up and you notice the lane to your left or right has fewer cars so decide to move into another lane away from the ACC "guide" car, at this point as soon as ACC detects that the moving guide car is no longer in sight it will immediately hit the gas to accelerate UNLESS it detects another moving car in the lane you have moved over to. This is valid if you do not push the brakes at any time and depend on ACC. This may or may not be normal ACC operation but this is how it operates currently, we just need to be aware of the clause "Within The Limits Of The System."

That is correct, my MY18.5 noted a build date of mid November on my papers.

          Noticeable differences already:
          1. No longer contains the "2.0 TSI badge on the rear"
          2. Traction control button has been removed.

            • My experience so far is that when your week and a half old Tiguan gets hit by a driver who decides to not give way it gets expensive quick and your wife is very upset about her new car being damaged. She's one of those people who name their cars - she's decided this one will be named 'Smashy'

Impact was right on the left-rear wheel. It needs a new wheel and there's some damage to the door, quarter panel and bumper/trim. Wheel has been given a bit of negative camber with the top being pushed in a little so there's at least a bent control arm/strut in there. They're going to xray the brake disc to look for cracks. I'm hoping there hasn't been any damage to the axle or diff that shows itself over the longer term.

It's with Amex Autobody in Melbourne's north-east who I've heard good things about and we're up to around $10k in repair bill so far. Thank god for insurance!

              • Yikes. Sorry to hear that your ride is no longer pristine but hopefully you'll get it back soon. As you say...thank god for insurance!

Cheers mate. We'll play around some more.

                  • I have found that ACC is a great assistant but you cannot rely on it too much on urban roads or even busy expressways.
Great for trickling along in stop start traffic at low speeds but not very good at higher speeds when its busy.
Love it on open freeways out of town, but still only there to reduce fatigue etc.
                    Same applies to lane guidence.
Still wanders around the lane for me.
Doesn't want to stick to the middle of the lane.

Cosmetic differences I'm not 100% sure, but mine has the different infotainment glass as someone else mentioned, two USB ports in the front and a USB port in addition to the 12V charging port under the climate control at rear of the centre console for the back seats.

If you want me to look at anything in particular let me know and I'll take some pics.
Congratulations on the new car Dan. My local dealer doesn’t have a sportline yet so I haven’t driven one. It looks like a great package but my one reservation centres around the ride comfort with the 20” wheels. I know it has adaptive chassis control which will help. What's your view on the ride comfort so far? Thanks

I came out of a GTI with 18s so my reference point maybe different to yours

The comfort suspension setting works well for low speed stuff around town, but is too soft above 80.

Normal mode works well most of the time, I'm trying an individual mode out now where I've set a mix of sport and normal settings and I like it.

Having the tyre pressures correct helps too, when I picked the car up they were all over the place which made the ride worse than it needed to be.

Sportline is a great package, definitely a sweet spot and you should be able to drive one away for under $50k if you don't want a sunroof.

                        • I'd like to know other people's experience when using the different drive modes.

I often run the car in Eco mode, but every time I turn the engine off, the drive mode will default back to normal Drive when I start the car again. But all the other settings remain in Eco mode.

Same thing happens if I am in sport mode. The drive mode will revert back to D after a restart while steering/suspension remain in Sport.

Does the same thing happen to everyone else? Is annoying having to choose your mode again every trip.

                          I have a 162tsi R-Line.

                          • Have you tried saving your preferences to your car profile and the key? It should then remember all settings including seat, radio etc.

The drive select is separate from the user profile I think, the car just reverts back to normal D mode whenever you restart the car, no matter which mode you left it in.

                              • Wow.. just wow.. picked up our my18.5 162tsi with DAP, roof and R-line pack today. took it home to fiddle with all the options and customise it to the way I like.. found android auto and mirror link not as intuitive as I expected with android auto looking very low res on the discover pro unit (have found the wireless connection with all the standard VW options to be the best and most fluid option).

With a quick shower we were out for our first drive to catch up with friends for dinner and was amazed at the lane assist and ACC and how fluid all of this felt. Accelerating is exciting and it felt really easy going through corners with all the assistance.

Night time fell and the car impressed me even further with all its mood lighting internally as well as the assisted lighting (I couldn't stop steering left and right to watch the lights move).

Had our passenger point out the exhaust crackle whilst sitting in the back which got me even more excited and I spent the next 10 minutes trying to replicate it but couldn't!

I can't be happier with our selection and can't wait to get back out and drive it!
