  • Had a fairly decent drive today... is mostly heavy rain through some windey roads... she didn’t skip a beat, stuck to the road like a glove.

I have just ordered a Tiguan 162 with all 3 packages and disappointed to hear this..
really? i've driven a glc with ACC, and it doesnt restart with the lights. could it be model specific?

Have to be careful when testing the ACC stopping behind a stationary car.
The radar has a detection distance of up to 200 metres (havent confirmed this). So if a moving car that was anything up to 200m infront of you has stopped then the ACC radar will bring the car to a full stop behind it.

While waiting stationary at the lights with ACC activated (waiting for traffic to proceed) you still have to be alert as a rear end collision is still possible.
While following behind a car ACC brought my car to an almost stop behind it as we approached the stationary cars at the lights. I think my speed was about 5-10km/h and just about to stop. I always try to be alert and monitor it carefully as I am aware of its "limits" flaws. In this one instance as we came to a near stop the car infront decided at the last second to not stop and move away into the left lane as there were less cars there. when ACC detected that the "guide" car infront of me had left our lane it hit the gas to target 60 km/h that my ACC was set to, lucky I was on the ball this time and immediately hit the brake to disarm ACC otherwise there was only 2 car lengths between me and the next car infront. Now maybe the Emergency Brake feature would have braked for me at the last minute? who knows? Not something I would like to test.
Just thought I would share my adventures .
I still love how ACC works on the VW, much better than Mazda anyway.

        • Holding acc down hill

I was hoping my new tig would maintain set speed going down hill and gladly it did not disappoint , not so much by braking but changing down gears to hold set speed. Worked perfectly

            • Got my 132 Adventure about a month after ordering it.

              Overall a positive experience.

              Pros:
              - Smooth drive
              - Good power delivery
              - Excellent infotainment system and integration with carplay and the digital screen as well as the 360 degree camera.
              - Good value for money with electric tailgate, LED headlights, lumbar support, heated seats, adjustable 2nd row, offroad protection.
              - Seems quite 'compact' in size from the outside but very roomy on the inside.
              - Art velours seats are very comfortable

              Negatives
              - Car delivered with approx 1/3 fuel, promised full tank.
              - Car not fully clean on the outside, some water staining marks, inexcusable IMO
              - Wiper fluid light on already, was it even full to begin with? Do VW do a top-up for you for free if you take it in to them?
              - Nothing fantastic from delivery POV, no special gifts or freebies etc.
              - No DAB
              - Fuel consumption high-ish, sitting at just under 10L/100km, drive just under 2000km.
              - Cup-holders aren't very practical in my usage
              - Front storage area is never used as it gets too hot in there for anything.

                Noticeable differences already:
                1. No longer contains the "2.0 TSI badge on the rear"
                2. Traction control button has been removed.

Where was the Traction control button previously ?

What has been put in its place now ?

How do you turn the traction control on / off without the button ?

1.It was located next to the gear stick near auto hold
                  2. Nothing is in its place
                  3. TCS and ASR are turned off through the car menu on the discover pro unit under settings

Not sure why they removed it to be honest.. I would of like the ability to turn it off straight away without having to dig through all the menu's.. but assume most wouldn't ever want to turn it off

                  • Interesting. Out of all your negatives only dab and high fuel consumption apply to me... Guess I got a good broker.

Agree with all the positives though!

Don't you have to turn off TCS & ACR to use the Tiguan Launch Control ?

Maybe that's why they removed the button... too many people testing out Launch Control

I have had a sport SUV and never turned the TCS off in 6 years.

Why would people want to permanently disable the Traction Control System ??

My dealer mentioned something about different modes on the TCS, for example pressing it for driving on sand in off-road mode reduces the frequency of intervention to 7 times a second rather than the full traction control (to preserve the brakes) but I couldn't find anything in the manual to that effect. Said they told them about it in the Tiguan training but who knows if that's true...

If that's true, it seems like even less justification to remove the button ??

Or did they do an update and the dial for the driving mode on the center console near the gear change now does the same function when you select 'off road' ?

Does the manual have different instructions for 'Launch Control' with the TCS button removed ?

                          • So it appears that the lumbar section of the drivers seat has has developed a distinct squeak when accelerating guess I’ll be booking it in to get looked at

Mine too! However I raised the height of the seat a little and seems to have fixed the squeek.. didn't know whether that would be a warranty item or not so am glad you mentioned it!

I’d hope it would be it shouldn’t be audibly squeaking that loudly after having it for four weeks... wonder if something just isn’t tightened correctly
