I have ordered/received my New Tiguan

Delewin, noticed you ordered exactly what I'm thinking of ordering. Colour as well. Just thinking about the r line vs no r line decision. I don't like the all black r line interior but like the exterior. Hmm...

Maybe because I test drove the 140 to r line that I was not impressed enough to shell out the additional $4000.

I gave it serious thought but I am not interested in cosmetics. I would have bought the adjustable shocks & steering if it was available separately.

That is the reason I saved $4000.

I remember reading one of these posts and the member stated that unless you were really pushing the Tiguan through twisting roads you would not gain much benefit.

At the end of the day you must decide whether it is worth the $4000. Are you going to get $4000 worth of benefit or are you overpaying? Your decision as you will have to pay for it .

The only time I had adjustable dampers was when I was motor racing. For normal day to day driving I felt it was not worth paying $4000 for the ability to dynamically change my suspension settings.

I did not get the R line package for one main reason and one smaller the reason. The main one was the 20" wheels, I wanted tyres with taller sidewalls for a smoother ride and if I do drive it on dirt roads. 20" tyres are not going to last last long on a dirt road IMO, at least the way I drive on dirt roads. I also can't see me using the adjustable suspension more than once, that is for my race car not my road car. The Golf Performance has adjustable suspension, I have never used it. We took the Tiguan for a really hard drive just after picking it up and for what it is the handling is great and I doubt many people would drive it the way we did that day as not many people live near the roads to do it on.

I thought the same in regards to the smoothness and quietness being like a hybrid, especially in eco mode when it uses the cruise function (disengages the gearbox and reclaims power to charge the battery). Such a nice range of driving personas, from ultra smooth to firm and agressive.

Also in relation to the boot, I think where people have had issues is when they swing their leg sideways as opposed to a forward kicking motion. I had a dealer have issues demoing it using the sideways motion, and I showed him kicking forward and it worked first time. It's the way that it describes in the manual!

Actually I tried just poking my foot, doesn't work, saw on a video on YouTube a few months ago and it was a swiped left to right since I'm left footed just once, take a step away and the red light comes on and it works!

On another note, anyone worked out how to use Auto-Hold reliably? I found it sometimes doesn't really keep the car stationary on a hill, so I reverted back to using the P brake (and placing gear in Neutral).

The times when it did work, I found that stepping the accelerator didn't actually remove the Auto-hold too, even though the car started moving....

I have had no problems with the auto park brake but I reckon you have got to have faith it is going to work just like auto braking in acc in traffic when the car in front stops.

So I got an update from the dealer about 5 minutes ago and the paperwork confirms that it is definitely on the UNDINE! - It is currently off the coast of France and the next stop will be Port Elizabeth, South Africa. It then bypasses Fremantle and heads to Melbourne then Port Kembla. Hopefully yours will be parked next to mine onboard the UNDINE.

So I got an update from the dealer about 5 minutes ago and the paperwork confirms that it is definitely on the UNDINE! - It is currently off the coast of France and the next stop will be Port Elizabeth, South Africa. It then bypasses Fremantle and heads to Melbourne then Port Kembla. Hopefully yours will be parked next to mine onboard the UNDINE.

I see on your picture they have cut the black area already prior to putting on the number plates on the rear. They kept mine on and there was black roughly 5cms on both sides, looked terrible on a white car, so had that removed.

Agree mate. I'm waiting on my white 162 R line (April), noticed the poor backing plates so decided to get custom plate brackets and covers (front and back) via Lakin Plates... highly recommend contacting Phil the owner.

The ETA for mine to Port Kembla is 17-03-2017. Hopefully they can clear it from the terminal pretty quickly and the dealer can get it to me by the end of March.

No problems - I was fearing the same. I too am hoping for a quick delivery as my birthday is on the 28th March. Fingers crossed.
