Everything goes through the sales manager at this dealership. Reading this forum, looks like another member is having the same problem - they also tried VW Australia and no response from them as well. It's just poor customer service.

I have emailed my salesperson and when she back from leave hopefully she will respond and provide clarification. I have told her that I prefer not deal with the sales manager anymore...

    Let's see how it goes...

Not sure what to believe... however the salesman did say that the production of the vehicle would only take about a week and that he would provide me with a VIN soon.

By the way, has anyone else that is still waiting on their order received a card and a toy model of a Tiguan in the mail from VWA as well?
I haven't received a card/model Tiggy. Also haven't received any emails from VW. My dealer told me yesterday that my car was in production, but due to exit production today. She was able to give me a VIN. Expected ETA for arrival in Sydney is 20th March, with delivery to me about 10 days later. I also ordered in September.

I'd make a formal complaint to VW about the dealer. You're obviously not the only person having a problem, and while the dealer is not owned/managed by VW, I'm sure VW Australia would want to know if there is a dealer who are turning off customers.

I got the same email as you did today and got sent the card/model car a month ago. I think it is VW's way of saying it's going to take a while so here is something to keep you going...

Problem is how is this going to affect the delivery of my car... they will probably have it as a low priority item, take their time in delivering the car...

You can't win can you. When I rang VW Australia last time when the timeline was pushed out to May, the sales manager put in a sly remark when taking to me by saying 'well you should know you rang VW Australia...'

Unfortunately to complain this far down the track will not do much to accelerate the delivery of your car. It's been allocated and has supposedly been built. Don't think they can "express ship" it (although if anyone knows if it's possible, let me know).
The most strange and frustrating part of it all is why wasn't your car on one of the first Aus-bound deliveries of fully spec'ed 162tsi's, since you ordered it all the way back in July.

When I ordered mine, it was based on the fact they told me it would arrive by the end of January. When we got told it would now not arrive until end of March, I kicked up a little bit of a fuss, because our first born is due in early March. So, they gave us free tinting for the whole car and boot liner.. They did apologise and told me that they were happy to refund the deposit, if we wanted to go with another option, however there really wasn't anything else I was keen on getting, and I didn't want to settle for a diesel or get their demo model without the panoramic roof. All we can do now is wait.

I'm in the same position as you. Was told Jan then May, then March. I told them I needed the car early March as my second child is due at the end of March.

Wonder why other people are getting fully spec 162TSIs so soon and the dealer has no idea if my car has been built or not!

Ouch. Seems painful! I ordered my fully loaded 162tsi rline on 31st dec and 2 days ago received a card from VW and a set of pens with a pen holder .. also received an email stating order was placed 2 days after I signed contract

My dates with an update provided by my dealership about 2 weeks ago is:
Build to be complete and in Germany depot by 6th march

                  Leave Germany by 17th march

                  2nd May in Aus

Hope to pick by end May at latest.

Anyone else on the same timelines? Hoping to share a ship with someone[emoji5]

No vin yet as build yet to begin

The pattern for delayed 162TSI (i.e. those arriving in March instead of Jan/Feb) seems to be the combination of R-Line and sunroof. So far, as far as I'm aware, no one in this forum who has received, or are close to receiving their R-Line has optioned the sunroof. I think the first shipment of 162s with R-Line and Sunroof will be the one arriving in March (20th for Sydney). And remember, that even orders in July couldn't be entered into the system until September when all the other backlog of orders were entered in. To make matters worse, if the
dealer was a bit slack, they may not have entered it straight away, so it may have been further down the list, even though the deposit was taken in July.

I'd still make a complaint in regards to the quality of service for the dealer in question, and if hcvo1 is afraid that it will make matters worse, then just wait until after you take delivery of the car. It might not get you anything, but might help out others in future, or at very least, feel like you've got some sort of revenge

I'll wait for a reply from the salesperson and then make a decision on what to do next - who knows the sales manager could have read it wrong - i.e. Built week 4 instead of April. Week 4 would be the week starting 23rd January which is this week and could explain the email of I've been built from VW. If this is the case the sales manager is not the sharpest tool in the shed and I wonder how they got to where they are now.

If it does turn out to be May/June, wonder what my rights are to cancel the contact get all of my deposit back and go to another dealer. Worst case scenario I wait till June.

Oh VW Australia will know about this incident - I'll make sure it gets fed back through the satisfaction survey as well as all their social media pages.

                        • Most contracts will have something in regards to the delivery of the vehicle. Mine for example: "If the Dealer has not delivered the Motor
Vehicle to the Customer within thirty (30) days of the estimated delivery date, the Customer may, by notice in writing to the Dealer rescind this Contract."

Also, because you ordered before you were able to test drive the car, there's usually a "subject to test drive" in the contract.

                          • I said this a month ago, but those emails and 'gifts' from VW are meaningless. It's a technique to keep you invested in the process and think that progress is happening, so you don't take your business elsewhere.

I have a 162 sitting in my garage and never received any 'I'm built' etc emails. They are smoke and mirrors. The only concrete evidence of progress is a VIN number from your dealer and then you can track the shipping yourself. The waiting sucks but you'll have a great car at the end of it so hang in there.

My contract also the same stipulations as Gladbach.

Yeah painful wait and agree on the VIN. Until then it's just marketing BS..

I have a White 162 R Line with Sunroof on order and have been told that it is on board the Torino which is meant to be arriving in Melbourne on Thursday. I have been told to expect to be able to take delivery in mid Feb but I have not been able to get a VIN or any further information from my dealer.

I have also not received a letter or gift in the mail but have been received several phone calls in December apologising for the delay.
Given that those who have ordered in the last week have delivery dates of June (and at better prices) I would recommend cancelling the order hvco1 and finding a dealer that is a little more customer focused. That kind of treatment is never appropriate, nor are the snide comments. I would also now be pushing harder for a full and proper explanation from VW about the delays and communications from the dealer.
