The R-line isn't an actual upgrade to the vehicle where extensive engineering work has been done, like an STI or Golf R where you get different transmission/motor and drive trains above the lower model.
It's more like you get a 3 series but with an m sport steering wheel. The car is now not an m series. It's a 3 series with some cosmetic upgrades.
