I have ordered/received my New Tiguan

Got a screenshot from NADCON a few days ago from the dealership and my fully loaded R-Line has moved from a May delivery to early April (car looks like it will be leaving the production plant on the 27/01 and arriving in Melbourne on the 22/03). Looks like there will be a whole lot more R-Lines on the road come April.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you have a fully loaded HIGHline. The options are the DAP+RLine+Sunroof?

They are just cosmetic additions/options.

The R-line isn't an actual upgrade to the vehicle where extensive engineering work has been done, like an STI or Golf R where you get different transmission/motor and drive trains above the lower model.

It's more like you get a 3 series but with an m sport steering wheel. The car is now not an m series. It's a 3 series with some cosmetic upgrades.

That's my sour grapes for the day!

I don't think Ive read a single person refer to their purchase of a Highline, as a Highline, in the 85+ pages of this thread!

However, someone who ordered a Comfortline adds the Luxury Pack for $5K (more than the R line option) - yet they all refer to the car as a Comfortline, not a luxury?

Saw your article on the Tiguan 110 TSI.. that got quite a good rap.. Some talk about the keyless entry on the entry level and also fuel consumption, but otherwise COTY.

BTW. My work colleague just went out and bought a 140 tdi r line with sun roof and DAP. It was a demo Unit. Had done 1500 km. He paid $60,000 drive away.

You mean feathers with the R-Line pack..

The only reason I call it the R-Line is because it's easier than typing "Highline with R-Line pack" each time. My signature refers to it as just that though.

Still, while there's no special tune or upgraded brakes etc. it still does get some non-cosmetic upgrades (ADC and Progressive Steering) which affect the way it drives - so it's not purely cosmetic. Crucially though, there is no increase in performance which again, is why I get why it is not a variant in it's own right. Very different to an "R".

After saying all of that - in NZ it's actually called the R-Line (not Highline with R-Line pack), and there are a few members from NZ on here, so you'll have to excuse our NZ friends from calling it simply an R-Line

One thing I wanted to ask others here: In my Jetta, I switch between normal and sports quite frequently by moving the gear stick down to S mode (rather than flicking across to tiptronic mode). Switching between normal and sports and vice versa in the Tiguan involves pressing the mode button and toggling through the options (or reaching forward to tap the desired option on the screen). How are you guys finding that? Using the paddles it probably an option for quick changes down for more acceleration but that doesn't change out of the mode you're in to sports mode as far as I'm aware.

In my Tiguan you can change it to sports mode for the gear box by tapping the gear leaver down when it's in drive (you'll note it says d/s). Sports mode using the mode selector changes more then just the dsg.
