  • in 12 months time for the 162! First (very few) landed in showrooms not even a week ago.. Official release is early Jan.= 2017.

Maybe slightly less for the trendline and comfortline... 10-11 months? October was the first batch I think, with the 162 tsi only trickling to the market out now

Im going off time the cars hit the dealership..

MY18 changes will typically be build week 22 - at least this has been the case for previous years. Expect these to start arriving for delivery in around August/September 2017. This is when you'll get any new updates/changes to the spec.

Yes it's dark blue..., probably a 2wd, because I noticed a clear height difference when I walked towards them. Officially it would be 1 cm, but clearly it was more.

Does the exhaust just vent into the rear fender area?

Somehow yes, but it is directed downward. They do not end IN the rear fender area but the pipes end under the car, on both sides. In Europe only the 240ps TDI and the 220ps TSI get the "fake exhausts". BUT luckily the TSI gets a pipe on the left hand side, and a pipe on the right hand side, both directly behind the chrome exhaust tips. The TDI gets a double pipe only on the left hand side.
Remarkably though, in Germany, people are so enthusiastic about the design, the looks of the (fake) trapezoid exhausts, that many order the parts to copy that look...
I discussed it yesterday at the dealer and he said it was mainly to keep the chrome ends clean, he then took me to a Passat 206kw, with two pipes behind each chrome end, and indeed that looked kind of silly.

VW should be sued for false advertising calling these trapezoidal "exhausts". (and I thought the Germans had taste).

Tow bar on the Rline, it's a vertical bar so only has some very minor cutting to the rear bar.

They are not calling it as such, but "Trapezoidal chrome exhaust trims, left and right", in the New Zealand brochure they are not even mentioned at all. It seems more car manufacturers are doing it now. I wonder why, maybe related to different kinds of engines coming in the next years?

+1 on the car looking great. Had the opportunity today to take a good look at a Indium highline R. First time to see one. The wheels look great am a fan of indium. Also had a good look at the car in Habanero. Not an Highline so lacks a little of the Highline "jewel ray" but wife is very pleased with her colour choice having ordered it from pics on the web. That is a win. Car arrives about this time next week in Melbourne.
