I just called them up. They never had a 162TSI, and in line with what others are saying, the 162TSIs won't be here until April (that will be the first shipment). They had a 140TDI R-Line which they just sold/delivered to someone last week. I was surprised that they had that, but they said the first batch of 140TDIs including R-Lines arrived a little over a week ago.

That's what I was told too (and that's what is on my purchase order). I'm going to ask my dealer/broker for an updated ETA. The dealer at Sutherland said that that is the latest news that they have, and that January was the original ETA, but it has since been pushed back.

Sale rep that told me was from my local Volkswagen, he is not from Sutherland. Frankly I do not received any email for the update of my pre-order. However, if the car release sometimes in April, by that time Peugeot 3008 will be selling a lot already here in Australia. And AUDI Q5 should be introducing in show room.

So I asked my dealer for an update this afternoon and they told me they are expecting it to arrive late Feb (and pointed out that they need a week or so after it arrives to prepare it for delivery).

Guys
I am going to put this rumour to bed once and for all. It was because of these rumors, I took it upon myself to contact Volkswagen New Zealand directly and they have told me that they are not aware of any production delays for the 162 R-Lines. I think that it also depends on when you guys placed your orders. Here in NZ the order book for the 162 R-Line opened in the last week of July. My dealer has informed me that the first Batch of 162 R-Lines has already been sold out in NZ and they expect a second batch in March, so I think this may be where the rumour's are coming from. I know that Australia only started taking orders for the new Tiguan around the end of August as the Aust launch was only happening at the beginning of Sept, so it looks as if NZ has beaten you to it again and snapped up the first Shipment of 162 R-LinesOrder & Delivered: 2017 Tiguan R Line 162 KW, Tungsten Silver Metallic.
