Email from my sales person today (unprompted) said our highline was due in production next week....which I think it is week 43. We will see.
I was told mine was in the first production run for the highline and that is week 47. In addition to that they sent me a screen shot of their eta data and it looks like the car will be in Melbourne on the 22nd Feb

Took a brand new plain white 110TDi with Driver Assistance package for a test drive 2 weeks ago. Could not fault it in anyway, handled well was quiet no rattles ergonomics excellent, if anything it was the instrument panel it has so much info and options on display that I found myself staring at in amazement and not the road. I then took my current Tiguan down the same test route that I had taken the new one on and found it behaved much the same but slightly less responsive which I think is because it is slightly heavier and has less power. It was unfortunate they did not have a 140TDi to test drive as this was really what I was after to compare against my second option.
The dealer offered it to me for $45300 drive away and $15k trade in for my current 2012 Tiguan which was $2k less than he offered me for my first Tiguan that I bought in 2008 that I traded in Dec 2012 to buy my current car.
My other option is a white X3 2.0d with M Sport Package Leather Nevada Seats Innovations Packages Head Up Display and 60k 4 year corporate service plan for $63k drive away. Not quite comparing apples with apples but I have elected to go with the later and collect it mid November

Based in vw car configuration for Melbourne the drive away price is:
- 110tdi is $47600
- 140tdi is $54900
And DAP is $2000.
If the dealer is offering you $45300 drive away for the 140tdi (which I'm assuming) then he is bulls**ting you.
$56900-$15000 is $41900! Not $45300. Always ask for the 'change over price' - which is how much you have to pay to get out of your old car and get in your new one.
Unless he said $45300 for the 110tdi without including your trade in yet; then that's a different story.

45300 was drive away for the 110TDi without trade in.
I asked them for a "trade in value" valuation on my car so I would have an idea what to sell it privately for. Looking at Carsales I should get around 22k as I have 55000km's on the clock
They could not give me an exact price on a 140Tdi but based on the offer they gave me for the 110TDi I would have expected to pay between 52k and 54k

i have heard from the sale rep that the display model of TSI 162kw are in display at Sutherland Sydney. anyone is living around there should come and check it out. I was too far away.
I think if you re-read the post it's the 110TDI they offered for $45.3k driveaway (i.e. the car he drove).
This is another case of dealers playing hard-ball on pricing and losing a sale.
Isn't that like a 10% discount already given the 110TDI with DAP is about 50k DA?
Anyway went and looked at a 110TSI with the family today and they are thinking about getting one with DAP and Luxury Pack, wonder what we can achieve with this spec.

That would be because the $45.3k drive-away price was for the demo white 110TDI with DAP that he drove.
If you're buying new then don't expect to get much discount - only way you may be able to get the dealer to negotiate a little is if you cross-shop against another brand.
Hey guys, can someone give me some help. I cannot find out if the highline Tiguan has the LED ambiant lighting inside. Golf and Passat highline have the ambient led lighting but I have not yet seen the Tiguan highline yet.

Tigger, the car was not a demo it had garage plates on it and was parked at the back off the showroom floor The odo had 3km's on the clock I was the first person to drive it...essentially it was a brand new car and the $45.3k offer was made to me before I test drove it check your email

Well it certainly looks like some dealerships are serious about moving some cars so people do need to shop around for the best price. The pricing you got certainly looks like pretty decent "demo" pricing.
I know some dealers will demo some cars just to move them - particularly if they are stock they have on the yard. Reality is this car was likely to become a demo anyway and they gave you their best offer.
If it was a car they had to order in they may not have as much flexibility which is possibly why they couldn't do the same sort of deal on a 140TDI.
So my build date is 7th week next year. I'm happy with that as I will have a 17 build car.
There is a hold up with the cars with the R-line pack, regardless of if its a tsi or tdi. The hold up is that there is a shortage of the r-Line pack wheels and bumper moulds. Estimated time for delivery is April may which sucks a bit
