Hey guys!

New to the forum and about to order my first VW

Am going for the 162TSI + DAP + RLine - but can't decide on the sunroof, have been told January delivery.

Any thoughts? Pros and cons?

Welcome mate! Personal preference is the end. There is complaints about leaks but just keep the drains clean and should be fine. Also you lose some storage and head room.. The main reason I went for it is because it lightens the inside of the car more and my little boy loves it! The car is more for the wifey and the little one to use daily so made sense to me.

Grats, my first order was without sunroof and then added it later on after a test drive with one and due to being my first new car purchase and wanted all the bells and whistles. Some further chat here on these topics.

Update yesterday that it is now mid November...
Also suggested that they swapped over to MY18 production last week..
Not that I usually trust dealers, but feel like I am being taken for a ride!

Same for everyone I think, at least we get MY18. Would LOVE to know whether there are additional colours for the R-Line version. Can't believe the P1SS poor colour selection in Australia. Looking at the german site they seem to have twice as many. Surely, if the car is built for you and you have to wait 8 months they could at least give you a larger selection here.

That sux but on the bright side, demand must be so big that the wait is so long. If it wasnt a good car, the demand wouldnt be so crazy.

Having said that, my wife would pick our new Highline over me. It really is a good car with such good tech.

Thats exactly what I am about to order but I've little interest in the r-line & sunroof - found 20" inch wheels a bit noisey.
Just an all round nice package that i hope will last till we get self driving electric cars.

Your dealer may have allocated "your" car to somebody else... I dont think all of a sudden rlines are two months behind scedule... I could be wrong but...

Also, as far as I know they switch to MY18 in 10 days... so either your dealer knows something or he doesn't know his s***...

Hi All

I ordered a 162TSI R-line DAP in late Feb and up until one month ago it was due mid July. Rang my dealer today and got told it is now Oct!! That's a crock!!

Its a great car but seriously - no wonder VW have a reputation for crap service

Think there's plenty of promises being made by some dealers to secure sales, but equally plenty of dodgy delays on existing orders, no doubt due to reasons mentioned in other posts.

I have to say though, my dealer has been totally up front and excellent to work with. Originally advised after i signed that my car would be likely be delivered late July to early August, under no illusion about potential timing and possible delays.

It's now on a boat and expecting arrival in mid June. A tad over 3 1/2 months from order to likely delivery.

I think it really depends on your dealer. Reality is that some are better than others. When you have a car in such high demand, its not at all surprising that dealerships will want to capitalise on the hype.

I've probably been a little bit lucky, but experience has been good for me so far.
