I have ordered/received my New Tiguan

Does anyone here know how to store the baggage compartment cover? (the thin plastic sheet that you hang to the 2 metal points on the rear door)

There is an instruction picture below the cover but I could not figure out how to do it.

Any help?

if it can't be done then I have to take it out, put it in plastic bag cover and store it on my storage :S

So far I only know how to expand rear storage capacity by lowering the floor but I still want to get rid of the cover as i don't need it.

After weeks of checking vessel tracker daily to see where my Tiguan is located, I took my stalking to the next level today. Went to Port Melbourne and actually went to see the FAUST in the port. No tiguans in sight unfortunately.



Not too much longer to wait now!!

I think they all have the variable height floor, well at least mine does. I had a look today, I see what you mean by the instructions. From what I could see, you would have to take out the spare wheel and the foam moulded surrounding, after which it would slide in just under the boot floor. Perhaps in other markets there are run flats or just a repair kit (my wife's Ford Fiesta only came with a repair kit until I demanded that they supply an actual spare wheel at no extra cost!).

Interesting. For some reason I thought the 140TDI got the continentals and the 162TSI got the Pirellis. Not really sure what I'd prefer, although I would say that I fitted Continentals on my Jetta when the tyres were due and I liked them.

It might come down to the batch, assembly line and supplier on the day. It is also interesting that there are two sets of VINs. Yours that begin with an 8 and mine with a 3.

Either way we have our cars now.


The weather sucks in Melbourne at the moment and can't take any photos to help the other members here with their photo fix.

My Tig is on the Tortugas so I will have it in a few weeks time.

Question for iPhone users out there - my current 2012 Tig has the stupid MEDIA-IN adapter cable and I had to separately buy their proprietary iPod/iPhone cable.

Does the new Tig come with any cables or do you just use a standard Apple USB-Lightning cable? If so, the standard 1m length cable is a bit over the top when you probably only need about 15cm, so have you found something shorter and more appropriate?

No, don't need any Adapter cable (had the same in my MK6 and it was a pain) there is just a standard USB port in the front lower compartment so use standard Apple USB to Lightening cable.

I haven't looked for a shorter cable yet as still deciding if I want to get a mount for my phone. If you do buy one make sure it is a certified cable otherwise it will only charge your phone the data connection and therefore the CarPlay functionality won't work.
