Announcement

Collapse

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I thought the one in bottom left was coolant temp and not oil.
I would love the oil temp to display like somewhere how the weather temp does. Then I’d choose to have other driving data showing. I always like knowing when we are up to temp and ready for a squirt

I'd also love to have oil temp showing at all times, in addition to coolant temp. Usually have this as my dashboard view in the Arteon, but it takes up the whole view (big waste of screen real estate).

I'd also like to have the date displayed, like it does in the 14 year-old R36. In the Tiguan, the time is displayed in 2 places (Discover Pro and Dashboard), and in the Arteon, it's displayed in 3 places! (Discover Pro, Dashboard and Analog clock) ... but no way to show the date for some reason =/

Anyone know how to adjust steering weight? I have a Tiguan R and a 162 Allspace, and the allspace steering is too light for me, even in "sport" which is the default setting for the R.

Due to VW locking access to modules in 2020 models these probably/possibly wont work on them

            Hi all,

Veepeak Mini Bluetooth OBD II Scanner

Can someone note step-by-step how to 'Disable Sat Nav Safety Warning' using the above adaptor?

              FastMitch: Hi.

I've only used Veepeak once - so I'm not a confident user of this tool. However, my understanding is that this ELM327 device is sold as a dongle only - meaning there is NO Veepack specific software.

AFAIK, Veepeak uses third-party software from a other diagnostic devices that are also based on the ELM chip - like Carista, Infocar, OBD fusion etc. This means that the precise procedure for using the device is entirely dependent on which third-party software you choose

However, in respect of your specific question and IIRC - Veepeak is generally limited to coding predefined options rather than being able to code deep programming changes in modules. So, I very much doubt that the Veepeak dongle can access lots of the coding changes in the Google Drive document - I'm more than happy to be corrected!

                Hi Don,

From the 'BEST ALL TIGUAN ELECTRIC MODS.docx'
                -------------------------------------
5 Disable Sat Nav Safety Warning
This tweak disabled the safety warning which appears each time you turn the
                car on
                Select 5F
                Coding
                Byte 23
                Initial Disclaimer - Off
                Legal Disclaimer - Off

                -------------------------------------

In the Car Scanner App (+ Veepeak connector), this is the Long Coding options I see available that appears to closely match above.

Not sure if this is the correct Byte 23 ?? and what is it I should select / deselect ?? Any thoughts ??

@FastMitch: According to my information for Byte 23 on the 5F module:
                  • Bit 1 = Initial Disclaimer
                  • Bit 2 = Legal Disclaimer

On you screenshot for Byte 23:
                  • Bit 1 is activated - meaning that it's ticked and hence Initial Disclaimer is active
                  • Bit 2 is NOT activated - meaning no tick and hence Legal Disclaimer in NOT active

So, the tweak instructions suggest that you should remove the tick from Bit 1. After the change, the following values should appear on your screen for Byte 23:
                  • HEX = 00 (currently 02 in your screenshot)
                  • BIN = 00000000 (currently 00000010 in your screenshot)

After you complete this tweak, I always like to add an additional in-car procedure that resets the 5F module. This ensures that the coding change takes affect: with the infotainment screen switched-ON, Press the ON/OFF button and keep holding-in until the screen turns-OFF and turns-ON again.

                  Don

Thanks Don, I really appreciate the time you have taken to assist and provide the details.

I followed your instructions and unticked Bit 1 and both Hex and BIN = 0. I then did a turn off/on of the infotainment system.

Appears to work. Well test more tomorrow.
