I wonder whether the PPF will kill it for us.
Isnt that the reason why the T-Roc R isn’t heading down under?

It’ll definitely be coming here and I’ll be a buyer! I agree that it will be priced circa $70-75k with all the fruit. think the reason the T Roc R has not come to date is pricing (would be too high for OZ relative to value, interior a big step down on what would be hoped), quite a few VAG cars now on the way with a PPF (Skoda Superb 4x4 for one, current Audi RS3).

I just hope the production version doesn't understeer as much as the prototypes spied testing at the Nürburgring
          Current:
          2017 Mk2 Tiguan 162TSI, R-line, White
          2020 Mk7.5 Golf R Wagon, White

I presume this will be SWB version only?

Don't buy a Tiguan, buy something that at least makes a good attempt at going aroumd a corner. Anything done to it is just band aiding the problems it has.

                    4.8. That seems too good.
The golf R gets that number and it weighs somewhat less.
How much power/torque does the Tiguan R have? Maybe it’s more than the current golf.

Looks like the Tiguan slips in 1st Gear / Launch Control (~ 40 km'h) if you look at the speedo & gear change (look at 2.17 min in the video)

Is that noisy exhaust standard or an option as I would prefer a quieter racer ?

I think you'll find the Tiguan R has a Soundaktor which is the "fake" noise generator which can be turned up/down or removed completely from the car

Is a 0-100 quote the new Ring thing?

Feel like there is more to it then this, and while this may be good for the price I don't think it's worrying any Macans.. particularly the ones double the likely price that would flog it. If that matters of course..

It will certainly undercut some indirect rivals like GLC43, X3 M40i and SQ5 but I don't really see them in the same market either.

In reality it sits in its own market space. Especially in 0-100 Blue.

In Australia 0-100kmh has always been a key metric when measuring car performance. That and 0-400m time/trap speed.

Much like l/100kms for fuel consumption (except the acceleration figures are normally semi-realistic)
