That's what you have is the top of the range as on all Highline or R-line and is called High model Full LED headlight with built in 2x motors for auto levelling and auto cornering and are DLA capable .On your is obviously already factory activated as my18.5 . On Tiguan Full LED headlight High beam use multiply segment LED( led module pcb has segment of 5x individually led-s diodes ) so it is able to dynamically individually switch on or off each LED or to fade in or fade out and plus all working in synchronic mode with 2x motors in combination controlled over AFS . Audi Matrix Full LED headlight use same things but without motors or moving parts but LED pcb use even more advanced LED PCB module with many more this small led diode in segments in low and high beam led units, also some model even use in cornering led modules in multiply segment pcb .
But still many people whih was able to compare including me claim that Tiguan has best and strongest Full LED headlight in market currently, even compared to most expensive Full LED Matrix like built in Audi q5 /q7 . Advantage of Audi matrix is no moving parts, smaller units less weight ,cheaper to produce and easy to make , less chance to failure . Unfortunately even this one in in Tiguan are more capable I think they will soon be discontinued as offcourse cost save to manufacture. But anyway feature is Matrix LED with no moving parts and I am sure is much better technology and will be far more advanced and is just beginning .I hope my next car wit LED headlight will have option in menu to user custom setup Kelvin Colour of Headlight LED light, from Cool Blue Daytime to Warm say 3000k -10000k to pick . Today almost all LED Headlights use artificially white cool LED which is to much bluish and is dangerous and can make problem to Driver and also blinds and annoy upcoming traffic , little bit warm more natural light close to halogen will resolve this.

If you have highline which have full led headlights with motor dynamic cornering LED( someone call these headlights matrix but is not ,as Audi use matrix with no moving motor parts in) excluding Tiguan Sportline and Adventure which use also LED headlight but are not full led headlight . Highline Full LED it is DLA capable, however first generation come In AU by factory disabled for Australia. This is tricky but can be activated with special factory vw toll including coding and software, . New AU Tiguans sold as MY18.5 and MY19 should have factor enabled DLA functions .
Check this document where it shows both headlight assemblies and we did not get the DLA capable lights in the first 18 months??? Page 20 & 21 at this link Tiguan Owners manual - Google Drive

The file is on the second last line 3rd from the right. LED are full LED, if they aren't what are they? The basic LED headlight cannot have DLA activated (been there and proven that) but they can have HBA activated. The linked doc also goes on to explain in some detail the construction of the lights and what they do.

BTW the basic LED has far less high beam power as can be seen in the linked document.

I have first generation full led which came factory without DLA but has been upgraded and activated to DLA and this is all done from scratch from halogen to oem ,so this information from first hand and more accurate than your pdf

Reviving this thread Do you know how the dealer adjusted your headlight - was it through one of those headlight adjusting machines?

And did the job take a few hours or a few days for the dealer to rectify?

Last week I took it back to the dealer as it's still under warranty, and they took a look, and noticed it was in fact too low. They played it off as a minor adjustment, however, the difference is night and day (pun intended). If you suspect your lights are too low, take it to your dealer to get it sorted.

Yes, a machine. He taught me how to do it myself. I'm happy since. I was worried maybe the adjustment is now too high, but in the months of driving only one car flashed me so I'm thinking they are fine.

Good to hear! Will be taking it in for that same treatment.

I did ask the dealer to adjust slightly above the machines specs.

Curious, if the dealer adjusted this via a machine, how would he teach you to do it himself (I'm assuming the manual way) which I assume would be inferior to machine alignment

Is that not illegal? Or do they have an upper limit tolerance that you asked to go between?

I don't know but driven past many a cop and it's fine. I doubt the dealer foreman of one of Perth's most trusted car dealers would break the law.

Honestly, when there were in spec I was actually worried diving on rural roads the lighters were that low.

Agree, I too feel mine is angled too low. Will be taking it in to the dealer this Friday for review. I'm hoping its the same adjustment approach as for yours, via a proper light machine.

They did say they'll see if they can adjust it to the upper legal limit.

Got mine booked in next Friday for a couple things to be looked at and this is on the list so I’ll see how we go.

Ah, so you think yours is low too. I wonder whether its an individual perception thing, or whether some Tiguans are incorrectly low..
