Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I don't have a Discover Media user-manual for a Tiggy - but somewhere in Route Settings, you should see tick options like:
    • Avoid toll-roads
    • Avoid tunnels
    • Avoid ferries and motorail trains
    • Avoid motorways

If you tick any of these options, SATNAV will exclude the facility from the route calculation as far as possible
Yeah, we've been driving VW's for a while now and use the "Avoid Troll-roads" option (IIRC - there's no tunnel option). On another note it's really hidden in the MiB3 - you have switch to destination view and then look for the menu...

Even with troll roads disabled it'll sometimes try route towards the tunnels...

There are times when we want to take the gateway (troll) bridge to the airport and it will literally try take us off the next exit to go through the tunnel and then back onto the highway, which ADDS time and distance.

I'd prefer the RNS510 maps data and routing software to this junk (interface/resolution is better at least). Oh and the search indexing is just pure, crap - once again the RNS510 worked and you didn't have to discover the exact abbreviation and address part order it expects for a match. It's not a hard thing for a half-decent programmer to implement properly.

If you think the VW version is crap Have a look at the MIB3 pro in a Skoda You need a degree in Stupidity to work it

Your pic looks like it is a Discover MEDIA screen rather than a Pro as was in my 19 Tiguan.??????
I realise I'm posting in the Tiguan forum, but I have a Passat with Discover Pro, so maybe I'm confusing matters. These are the latest files for the Discover Pro. Interestingly, they have now trimmed-down the file size for these updates which is great!

What you have posted is a EURO map and may not be the same as a ROW map which traditionally right up to now has been 26 GB and you cannot truncate it before installing or it wont work. Car model doesnt matter its the MMI unit thats the same across VAG models

I downloaded that file on 11th December and it was 25,596.835 in size according to my computer files Looking at what the page says for ROW seems they have deleted some countries out of it But Who knows ive got the file and its bigger

I can assure you that it's a ROW map - I've just updated my car to the 2024/25 ROW files available via those links as per below. There is a change to the map file structure, hence the significant reduction in size.

If you downloaded a file back in December 2023, then it's the 2024 file, not the 2024/25 file.

You would have downloaded this one:

The links are on the briskoda page I linked to on Friday. Re-linked below:

Columbus Map Update 2024-2025 (MIB1/2 HIGH) - Audio, Electronics and Security - BRISKODA

                They are for Discover Pro.

The explanation for the smaller file size is also on the briskoda page.
