From my (European) experience, DiscoverCare application is interesting ... but useless. It didn't show last map update, but direct download from mentioned website and manually transfer to SD Card (I have Discover Media) makes my maps in car 2018 version.

Early in 2017 in time of the first from two updates per year, DiscoverCare asked me to update my SD Card.

I think it's because DiscoverCare app takes data from navigation.com where I didn't found last update (Dec `17).

I have the Discover Pro MY18 (no knobs, touch buttons). All of the literature refers to an SD card in slot two, but I was not supplied with one. Should there have been one in the SD slot when I took delivery?

No, the maps are saved on the internal drive. You can use the DiscoverCare App to create a new SD card when updating. You don't need one from VW.

Could be a delay in getting their act together. We subscribe to Australia Post Postcode file quarterly and it is always more than a month old when they send it out to us.

Ordered: 2017 build date Tiguan 162 TSI Highline with DAP in Tungsten Silver and rear luggage tray. ETA: late April / Early May. I did not have to wait. I took delivery on 11 March 2017.

Just following up my post now I am back online. I have Discover Pro in my MY18 Tiguan. Dealer told me I had latest maps but using the Discover Care utility I updated to V.03.959.801.ED 0065 ROW 2017/2018. Based on conversations above I took a look at the separate manual download file and discovered this is an even newer map. New update installed is V.03.959.801.EE 0068 ROW 2018.

Looking inside the files I can see that 065 was put together 2016-12-14 and 068 was put together in 2017-07-04.

Thanks for that - would it be possible for you to take a screen shot of what files you have on the root of your sdcard? I still cannot get the update to work in my car! Any help you can provide would be very much appreciated

In the file I downloaded there are a n7mber of folders, including an MIB1 and MIB2 folder so not sure what needs to be on the sdcard

All I did was extract the whole P68_N60S5MIBH3_ROW_NT.7z (24,149,160 size) file to the root of the SD card.

                  I have Mib1, Mib2 folders and metainfo2.txt, P68_N60S5MIBH3_ROW_NT.md5 files

Why did you tried to do things from the back side? With Discover PRO you have an online update feature. Connect car to your home/mobile WIFI and use option to update maps - I have Discover Media, so no on-line option available for me, but I remember that my friend told me he had to have car powered on (w/o engine running) to keep maps updating.

                      Is this available in Australia?

I don‘t think so as we don‘t have CarNet in Australia. All online functions go through CarNet in Europe. I asked VW Australia recently if they are planning on bringing CarNet to Australia, but they didn’t even know what I was talking about and I was told there is no such thing from VW. Sigh...

This is not a Car-Net feature. In your Navigation settings, you should find an option called "download manager" (direct translation from Polish Discover PRO). Not sure exactly where it is, but for sure in Navigation - not Car Settings or Car-Net section.

Like I sad, I have Discover Media in mine and sadly I can't provide you photos.

                          EDIT:

Here you have how this screen looks like in Polish version of DP in Passat:

For sure, initially you need to change Packet dropdown to Map Update. In PRO you can select which countries you want to download - in difference to Media version, where you need to download all to SD Card.

Like I said, online services are not enabled in Australia. I can see the settings using VCDS and I have enabled these in my car but due to the lack of CarNet services, all online funstions, even map updates, are not available.
Please, I hope someone can prove me wrong.

That's sad. I'm sorry, it looks like you are right. There is no online map update for your region

Can I ask where you got the file from? I just downloaded the update program from VW and it offers the 065 version as the latest update.

Edit: Never mind. Worked it out
