Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NOT low profile wheels :)

    Hello

I wonder if anyone could help with this please?

    I've a 2020 T-Roc 140TSI X 2.0L with 225/40R10 tyres on it - so low profile.

Where I live the roads are full of pot holes and I'm informed that I've buckled a wheel. Rather than replace the wheel, I'd like to put some tyres on with a higher side wall.

The tyre garage recommends something 17". The local VW dealer has not been able to say if these would or would not fit. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Thank you.

Any Golf Mk5+ any Tiguan 17" or 18" wheel will physically fit. Lots available 2nd hand all over the place. You will lose some handling ability, but gain comfort and a softer ride, including protection for the rims from the higher sidewalls on the tyres.

Available OEM approved sizes are -
      Tyres 205/60R16 92H (winter tyres). Rims 6Jx16 ET43.
      Tyres 215/60R16 95V. Rims 6.5Jx16 ET43.
      Tyres 215/55R17 94V. Rims 7Jx17 ET45.
      Tyres 215/50R18 92W. Rims 7Jx18 ET45.

Golf wheels will fit but a slightly higher offset.
Tiguan wheels also fit but with a slightly smaller offset.

If looking after market non genuine wheels ensure they have a PCD of 5 x112 and centre bore of 57.1mm.

Has anyone changed from 19” wheels to 18” and if so how noticeable was the difference. Considering doing this to my T-roc.

Well as changing by an inch only gives you half an inch difference in the ride you would be better to go to 17's and get an inch more available for higher profile tyres
