Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • radiator fan electrical connector in 2018 Amarok TDi

I spent the best part of an hour trying to undo this connection - to no avail. There is obviously a trick to it that doesn't destroy it in the process! Any advice most welcome. (The wires go to the radiator fan that's embedded in the radiator cowling that sits just behind the radiator itself.)

The red tab is a locking tab so that the plug cannot come undone by knocking it / vibration etc. So the red tab should slide out and then that will give you access to push another tab that will be hiding behind it to release the plug.

Thanks for that - I had tried to slide that red tab back - firstly with fingers, then gingerly with pliers. As it would't budge, I feared damaging it. I guess its clogged up with all matter of old desert mud and grit, which I did attack (unsuccessfully) with WD40. I shall return to the offending plug with renewed vigour!

This is the plug here. Having a look at the photos showing it from different angles should help you out. Photos of the plug

The red locking tab slides back a few mm and then you can press the black tab which should release the plug.
