Gti mk8.5

Videos of the latest GTI MK8.5 have appeared in my YouTube feed & I’m breathing a sigh of relief that it finally resembles something I’d consider replacing my MK7 with (not that I will replace it).

Great to see VW have listened & gotten rid of the capacitive buttons & replaced them with physical types.

I also love the look of this hatch & the red is appealing for once (though, I can’t ignore the white).

Reviews seem to be overly positive, which is also a relief.

It's a big screen, but more buttons would have made it better, and bring back the sunglasses holder.

Yep. They got rid of the sunglasses holder?

The buttons in front of the shifter were perfectly placed - you can have your hand on the gear stick & reach those button with your finger.

I also love the MK7 driver’s door armrest…it’s the perfect size/placement/height. & the spring loaded handle on the driver’s side door is also suited to my arm length as I can grab it & rest my elbow on the window sill.

Hopefully they haven’t taken too many of these ergonomics away in the MK8.5.

I like them. Reminds me of my favourite car of maybe the last 10 years - the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.
