Right so I tried doing a launch control on the weekend with the traction control disabled and the wheels wheel spun like crazy for about fifty metres, so I probably won't try it again for the sake of my tyres. Haha
I did get a bit of wheel spin accelerating in third gear briefly while it was raining on Sunday, with the traction control on.

No I can't say that I did to be honest, why have you? I find that it pulls harder all the way up to sixth gear, which is useful on the motorway for easy overtaking.

How do you add a signature, I want to add my car details.

Changing topic slightly, I really want to take my car on a track day to fully explore it properly. Has anyone else done this with theirs yet in Sydney?

Indeed. Sometimes there is a minor (less than half a sec probably) pause in the power delivery either after changing to 4th gear or right when flooring it.

Spoke with BMS and they said it probably is the ECU still adapting but after 50km I would expect it's fully adapted. Will have to drive it some more to say for sure.

            • Thank you to everyone that placed an order and also to AutoInstruct for offering the special Group Buy discount to us. The Group Buy has officially ended yesterday 26/9/2016. So if you'd like to order a JB1 now, you would have to order it directly on AutoInstruct's website at the recommended retail price. For those that ordered on or before 26/9/2016, I'll PM the coupon codes to you once the next batch of stock arrives.

                    • Has anyone adjusted their setting on their JB1 yet and if so what have you changed it to and have you noticed much difference from the stock tune that it comes with? Also I downloaded the software today but I'm not sure if it is the latest version. How hard is it to remove the case from the JB1, so that I can fit the cable to it. Does the car need to be in sleep mode to upgrade the setting?

                      • Case removal easy small flat head screwdriver in and twist.

Personally I would let it go into sleep to attach the cable, but needs power to change maps.

                        • I'm pretty sure it states that ignition should be on when connecting to the unit via the usb cable. As above, flat screwdriver and twist, super easy.

Switched mine to map 6 which runs lower low end boost and it seems to lack a little of that initial push back. However for an extra piece of mind and since I don't usually need all that low end torque I might keep it there.

One more thing, launch control with JB1 in this car is pointless unless probably if you run semi-slicks which have got up to temp. Tried it yesterday, and that was on the lower map 6, immediate smoke and stink of burned rubber while desperately trying to keep the wheel on a straight line. I know Potenzas have never really been up to the job but that was almost scary.

Not that I really bother with launches but I tend to try all my cars once or twice in that. Also, maybe the 3K rpm that the LC rises up to is too much, 1.5K seems a better option but I doubt I'll try it again until I switch tyres.

Yes I got exactly the same result but on the stock "Map 1", the tyres just wheel spun like crazy followed by the smell of burning rubber. I just don't think that FWD cars are made for fast launches.

They obviously aren't. Especially with all the extra torque from the JB1 I almost felt like I was kicking my dog, it was brutal. And let's be honest the only point to do it would be bragging at the pub that you managed a x,xx 0-60. In all my driving years I have pulled against many cars on the road or they have pulled against me if you want, (always on private airfields) and that was always from a roll, where I didn't have any problem putting the power down. You don't usually get to roll down your window and ask the other guy to line-up with you, and then launch at the count of 3, do you? Unless of-course you are going to the drag-strip or join underground drag races or whatever.
