A lot different. Why are you upgrading?

Thb mainly for the looks i have upgraded to 19 inch rims and have been telling myself it's ok the brakes don't look to bad they don't look to small
Then i see a 3 door performance gti on monday with exactly the same wheels as mine but with the 340mm brakes.....

I was looking at them and my daughter who was standing next to me just looked at me and said "your going to get them now"

Sigh i think she is right they just look so much better( i know not the most logical reason to get bigger brakes) and being a big difference is a bonus

Have found a full set of fronts in usa for 1200 American but dont want the stock discs was looking at dba t3 or t4 rotors will have to speak to a vw specialist

      Thanks for your reply

Hahaha the only time when size matters but totally understandable mate. Performance wise a lot of difference but I also changed the pads. Looks wise could you look at DBA brand if they had a 340 size for your car? Might be cheaper. You could also ask the Golf R boys as a lot are upgrading to RS or TT brakes and often sell their rotors.

        • Anyone with a JB1 had any issues with hesitation as to the gear selected. I was coming up to the end of a side road to make a left turn, slowed down and then when I went to accelerate away, it stalled momentarily, which was a bit disconcerting. Luckily no cars were coming, but it could have been dangerous if I was trying to accelerate up to speed, to filter in safely.

I'm pretty sure the boost isn't directly measure, because you need a manual boost tap for aftermarket gauges to be accurate if you have an ECU tune. This would seem to indicate the boost gauge/display is estimated based on the stock performance of the turbo at gear/RPM/throttle positions, would it not? If this wasn't the case, why would aftermarket boost gauges need a manual tap if there is an ECU tune? It would be interesting to see a stock setup with a boost gauge hooked up the old fashioned way and then compared to the digital readout.

It has done this a few times where there's a flat dead spot and yes a bit scary. Not sure if it's jb4 related or not and it only ever happened in low speed tracking towards a roundabout let's say

              • I think it is more likely to be a DSG thing than a jb1 or otherwise engine related. The DSG can still very occasionally be glitchy in some low speed environments where rapid changes to "go" are involved. More so in normal mode than sport. Probably because it is exoecting to lazily roll up into second and you have it ripping power down suddenly. Have had this only once or twice in mine.

I get this in full auto and paddle mode.

Downshifting before turning a corner, just as I want to go around the corner and start applying the accelerator. Hesitating then goes in all modes. When you're sub 30kms it is really noticeable.

It's not as pronounced in Sport + paddles.

It's taking some getting used to.

No, car has actual boost sensors that read pressure AFAIK. Aftermarket boost gauges are there only for simplicity, always visible without having to run OBD tools which are anyway slow and limited (i think ECU reports max 1,55bar through OBD - don't ask me why) so it wouldn't be possible to have real-time boost reading otherwise. But the car itself does have dedicated boost sensors.

Echo the hesitation but also think it's a DSG6 thing not JB1/4 related. In comparison, my dry DSG7 did that only once in 5 years. I have had it 3-4 times in 1 year already with the DSG6.

                        • hi guys,
i've got a clubsport dsg and am contemplating a JB4 install. Has anyone got any figures for gains on map 1 & 2?
