One word though is that tyres do make a world of difference in these cars. I understand from your post that the Pirellis do a good job at least, a much better one than dreadful Potenzas. I'm in Europe so we are lucky to get super light Belvedere wheels (7.6kg) as standard but wrapped in poor Bridgestones. The plan is to change them with MPSS or MPS4 in the first month!
I wish we had had the option of the Belvedere wheels here in Oz! Would have spec'd them in an instant, which is what I've done with my Focus RS order. 2500$ for forged wheels with Michie PSC2 rubber - pure bliss. Anyway I personally didn't have any grudge against the Bridgie RE050 on the RS Megane. They were what was on the 8.08 RS 265 that took the ring record in 2013, so must have suited that car setup. Anyway, will put up with the P Zeros for the time being, as you say they do a good job, albeit a bit noisily.

What a great looking setup you have now MIRSAD! I love the carbon steel with black wheels immensely. Having had deep blue to look after for the last 3 years, I feel for you for the hours you'll spend keeping it clean.

Worth the effort though, looks magic when they're done. And guess what I've ordered my Focus RS in?

The white seeks for more attention but the grey and black are just class imho. Exactly like a special, focused, performance oriented hot-hatch should be. That was my biggest complaint from the R which prevented me from going with it in the end.
I maybe biased somewhat, but I dont feel the wing stands out too much on the white, especially when the wing appears to be an extension of the black roof?

Agree 100%. I saw a white Ed40 at the Volkswagen Driving Experience and the boot/roof spoiler definitely didn't look out of place.

The seats in the Ed40 are about a million times better than those fake carbon look things that they stick in the R-line Passat, and Wolfsburg models. And the steering wheel looks and feels great - not sure how well it's going to wear, however time will tell.

I like the Ed 40 but it's just adding yet another option to the VW performance hot hatch stable. I guess it's one way to get a new round of buyers through the showroom is to roll out limited edition series.

The trick with these special edition models is to sell them out before they hit the showrooms (or soon after). If they still have them hanging around in 6 months the "special edition" is not quite so special and will have to be discounted with all the other 2016 build cars.

It's just a way for the dealers to charge a premium on the dealer delivery fee and sell at full sticker price.

Saw a carbon 40th Gti (Geez I still don't know what to call it) I must admit in person its nicer than imagined.

Question does the CS have race mode like the R?

Or maybe they are just reflectors and Im confused with the Renault, which had red lights in the same position. When I see my car again, Ill confirm.
I believe the other golfs are still coming through with fog lights. The GTI40 fogs were deleted for air ducts to improve brake cooling and aerodynamics I believe. Pic from VW brochure.

Hey Brian. Nice choice of colour. I went into Norris VW at Kedron on Gympie Rd on the weekend and out a deposit on a White ED40. I got quoted $55910 drive away. I plan to go to 2 other dealerships in Brissy to try and get a bet.

I'm curious as to what price you got driveaway? I'd like another comparison to go off.

I see you drive an Adidas as I do to. I got my on order at $55,500 with roof. Still haven't let the dealer know my decision yet, going to try and get a test drive in before I sign on the .... line.

As for the light on the door, I believe that is a reflector. This is if you are referring to the red on the bottom door? I'm interested to know if an LED could be put in the door to create the ambient light. I noticed today in comparison to the R the LED framing is still there just tends to be no actual cabling behind the door seal.

Hi Bassik, yeah I do mate. I still love my car and would not have thought about trading it in until I heard about the ED40. I guess I'm a die hard GTI fan. I know there are other great cars out there but I just love the GTI. This is the longest I've ever kept a car haha.

You got a great deal for $55.5. I would not take the sunroof anyway but I'd like that price with perhaps the paint and inside protection. is anyone taking those options. What are people thoughts? I got paint, interior and a 5 year maint agreement for scratches, dents and cracks for $2380

Mind me asking what you got for your trade in, what the kms. I'm thinking I might have to take that option (if I go ahead) I'm the same mate love the GTi esp the rare kind and love the adidas as well really nice package. I would never take their protection add on's I just feel they are way over price although never heard of the maintenance agreement?

Not to me, I said "for some". The only reason I didn't go for white/black roof is that my previous car was white/black roof and needed a change.

I'm sorry do you mean there's none of the other two wheel options from which to choose in Australia? No Belvedere and no Pretoria with MPSC2 on??? I also noticed there's no Urano grey (no biggie CSG still looks nicer) and no black either? I just hate it when VW x country just goes and arbitrarily chooses what you should be driving...

                        I call it the Clubsport

If it's like the GTI, the "higher" mode will be called Sport I guess, but why does it matter anyway, it's just a title. The car will not be making more bhp nor becoming more "direct" than it will be in Sport. It is in fact so much of a gimmick that if I remember correctly someone activated it via VCDS in his GTI, replacing Sport mode. Actual gains compared to "Sport" = Same as a couple of "go fast" stickers, but hey presto, racecar!!

My Adidas has just under 90,000km. Its got APR Stage 1 ECU and CAI. I got 17k trade in (talked em up from 15k).

The maintenance thing costs $1595 for 5 years and covers you for unlimited scratches, dents and minor repairs at $55 each, but i got it packaged with Paint Protection $1595 and Interior (Vinyl and Upholstery each) $1200. All up it was $almost $4k but i got it for $2380.

It was more of a question if the CS had the same options as Golf or R in terms of "modes" They basically do the same thing. As long as they both have individual I couldn't care less. And our only Oz option is sunroof nothing else, super crappy IMO

Wow 17k, yeah same mine has a Superchip tune. Figured it's kinda unique it deserves some extra KWs...lol I might go private I just know the market is super tough for second hand market. Mines only got 70ks on it, not that makes a difference really, sunroof might give it a little and it's in A1 condition.

                              • I've got no chance then. Spoke to a salesman today who had an adidas model. Said it had 45ks on it and in mint condition. Got $24k for trade in but that was after the guy had it advertised for 3 months privately. That's a long wait.
