Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

      I used to think the foggies on my Rex looked super cool, but in my ten years of ownership, I might've had cause to use them twice. And we all know how many people use them (illegally) in concert with their normal headlights when it's only raining.

        VW targets enthusiasts with cheaper Golf R, GTI

        Base spec GTI and R models to be released. despecced to reduce price.
        GTI original 3 door < 40K - early 2018 release - rumour that red and white only - i would guess active chassis control and led lights dropped??
        R Grid < 50K - late 2017 release - rumour that leather and active diisplay etc dropped.

          An R minus the leather would be awesome! black leather and the tropics do not mix. But I have not even finished running in my GTI yet....

            Gr33nbastad, I'd be interested to know which transmission you prefer or if your Mark 8 will be manual or DSG.
            If the answer to the Monty Hall problem was 50/50, the contestant, on average, would win the car 50% of the time simply by sticking with their original guess...but you can only win a one-in-three guessing game 33.33% of the time so it can't be 50/50, can it?

              Friend just took delivery of his 7.5 GTI, fully optioned. Very nice, LED headlamps with swiveling cornering lights, Dynaudio with a sub in the spare wheel. yum

                      Same here. Must say the white silver looks completely different in the metal - you cannot gauge it from photos. The one I saw was indoors and had almost a very, very pale blue tinge. Keen to see it in daylight now.

                        I did not like it at all but it really does not show up in photo's you need to see it in daylight to make your mind up on it

                          Yeah at first I thought it is white until I took a closer look at it. It is definitely a unique colour that only shows at brighter settings and angle. The metallic actually makes it even nicer.
