Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • The DRIVE review of the 7.5 AllTrack appears to show a picture of the inside of the car with the standard 8" Infotainment screen (with knobs) in the console, in conjunction with the 12.5" Virtual Cockpit in front of the driver.

HOW is that possible. If you get the virtaul cockpit don't you get the 9" knobless infotainmemt screen?

      • Whats strange is that in that review, it seems the Alltrack has all the DRLs lit up 2, on each of the headlights. This is good news seeing that the promotional photos of the Golf r line and review shows that they removed part of the DRL on each of the headlights.

VW have updated their build and price tool online for 7.5. You can see the different options at each trim level now.

                Exactly. Sigh of relief.

I don't see this anywhere... Where is the virtual cockpit listed in the driver's assistance package?? This is from a couple of online auto websites that obviously got a VW press release....

" First is the Driver Assistance pack, which is available on Trendline, Comfortline and Highline models. Additional equipment includes adaptive cruise control, lane assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, park assist, proactive occupant protection, and driver mode selection with a personalisation setting.

Next up is the Infotainment pack, limited to the Comfortline and Highline grades, and brings the 12.3-inch Active Info digital driver’s cluster, a larger 9.2-inch ‘Discover Pro’ satellite navigation system with gesture and voice control, along with the Dynaudio Excite 400W premium audio system with 10-channel digital amplifier and subwoofer."

Go to the vw website and comfigure your car you will find the active info display as a 700 dollar option by itself but if you try to choose it by itself you will find that it makes you bundle it with either driver's assist or infotainment package

My dealer just emailed me to confirm that my R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon should arrive in Oz around mid August (2017), but other orders are going to be much later (possibly December 2017). If I get it sometime in September I'll be happy.

He thought the delay was due to a shortage of supply for the active info display units . I seem to recall a similar problem with the display units for the Octavia vRS a few years ago which led to very long waiting times. I guess this is something that happens with the lean production methods (just-in-time sometimes isn't) VAG use these days (like everyone else).

I've rung around a few dealers. I've found one car I can get in November. I'm really pissed off that my original dealer wasn't able to get me one of the august ones given how long ago I put down a deposit. I've been told there a few arriving in august, and then the bulk will be later. Same story about the active displays.

That's great! Any rumour that the launch dates for performance range are gonna be pushed back? I have emailed my dealer to ask about it. Still waiting for a reply.
