i have been verbally told dec-jan (from Oct).. which I was expecting anyway..
first time buying new car (let alone VW), am I meant to get any order confirmation from VW?

Have you been given a price on the GTI yet? If so, are you able to share? I'm keen on one and want to gauge how much drive away is for a GTI.

Yupe I have. 53k Driveaway with metallic paint, driver's assistance and infotainment pack. Car will be due end of August with eta to port of arrival just before launch of the performance versions.

You should get a generic vw welcome email though. Got an email notification once order was put in and another one when it is built.

Thanks mate. So roughly 48,600 without any options drive away. I'm guessing you didn't have much chance of haggling seeing that its early?

Was quoted 49501 dsg (no other options) & 46926 manual (no other options)
Yeah not much room haggling room at all. All I've got is around 700 bucks discount. You might have better luck to get more discount if you finance through them as well.

Ah, thanks for the prices. That helps me quite a bit. What colour did you end up ordering? Also, i'm guessing there wasn't any option to have the dynamic rear led lights installed right?

Indium grey metallic. Was gonna go for tornado red initially. Not a chance apparently; specifically asked if I can get the dynamic rear led light as an add on option (which is made available for all golf range, except the gti and r version) but was told that it's not possible. Still holding on to the slight chance that it will be premium led tail light for the gti though, just not darkened/ tinted. Fingers crossed. If not I might get on aftermarket ones fitted down the track.

I got different prices from different dealers. Pure White GTI + DSG + DAP the drive away quotes varied between $51.2K to $52.3K (all in and around Syd). At the end, I worked out a change over deal (trading in my old car) and I think I got at least a couple of grand off the RRP. But who knows, I could have got better trade in value elsewhere. Question I still have is why would the drive away prices vary so much between dealers? Is that normal?

My exact argument!!! But all I've got is a firm no. Probably will go with aftermarket accessories if the included taillight doesn't appeal to me.

Yeah came across a few accessories suppliers online that sells those dynamic taillights for mk7. Not sure they fit mk7.5 not?

Might go to my dealer and start to have a discussion about the R. Only thing I'm worried about is if a received a qtr 1 2018 delivery and then the mark 8 comes out not too long after.

Reading some motoring articles mk8 it is estimated to be released 2019. I'd say late 2019 for Rs.
