Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • So did i, did not like the looks of the Skoda and the passat was just 2 big for my needs as a empty nester back seat room is not a big issue
plus all the new tech just sealed the deal its still a compact car so rear seat legroom is not great if you are over 5,11ish but boot space is awesome for all my golf gear
Have to fold down back seats atm in highline wont be doing that soon
imo its also the best looking car of the lot but looks are vry subjective so each to his own
The only downside for me was the impressively ugly wheels in the 17 and 18 inch just yuck at least to me
But if you dont like em thats a vry easy fix just get others
2017 Golf Alltrack 135tdi All options
19 inch Brescia Wheels Golf R brakes front and rear
    Calipers painted Candy apple gold
New rear sway bar and linkages

Sorry - just a static display car, so I couldn't tell. But the instruments were completely black at rest, so I expect it did have the active display at least. It did look very clean and classy.

Edit: I was told all dealers are getting their display car in tumeric yellow.

For a Wolfsburg I offered 63 and they laughed, told them well it's 2k more than the standard and they responded it's about 5... I told them we must be using a different calculator.

Since then my local Audi dealership seem desperate to give me a new S3 at R prices.

Don't bother. At full RRP, Golf R IMO isn't worth it.
I would just wait until the demand calms down and try again if you really want the car.

I'm leaning towards waiting at the moment.

It's a lot of money and you have to be happy with it!

Geez, y'know ... At first glance, maybe too exxy. But you pay more for the slightly faster RS to lose your fillings over every pothole and get laughed at by most people over 50. STI just as crude with even less refinement and a twenty year old donk. Type R looks try-harder than Subie (if that's possible) to suffer front axle tramp every time your right ankle flexes in 1st or 2nd. GTI in same stable from same dealers as the R. Not sure where to go for less. Possibly Stinger if you've got no brand loyalty whatsoever and willing to drive like your Nan in the wet.

                          • Sat in the MK7.5 on Wednesday night at Austral VW in Brisbane.

Highline with some options in the yellow. Looked good, included the active display .... which I decided I don't like. Looks too much "Playstation" for me.

Otherwise a pretty nice facelift/upgrade. Pricing still TBA.
