    • If your daughter has a nursing shift starting at midnight 30 kms away, would you prefer she took the 5 year old automatic Corolla or the ‘automatic’ Polo/Golf?.

The Golf. Automatic and selective door locking, safer in an accident and better lighting.

              • I didn't realise there was this thread on DSG Issues.

Just gone through the same thing with my 2015 Tsi Wagon. Vehicle was just out of warranty and had 26000km's on clock. Clutch pack replaced -

Same here. 08/13 built MY14 Golf Highline which ran out of warranty Jan 2018. Back then I reported & they recorded a clutch shudder on servicing records. During my 75k service in Jan this year I complained again. Today they fitted a new DSG clutch pack to the car covering all parts & labour charges. Excellent service from VW so no whinges from me.

So is there an improved version now or does this become an issue again in 3 - 4 years, because that would be my concern.

Refer back to post #219 .... I think the DSG clutch pack finishing with ‘G’ is the updated revision.

                        • Took our recently acquired 2013 Golf 103tsi in to be looked at for squealing issue today at Bayford VW, service manager took it for a quick drive and came back and booked it in for new clutch packs in a couple of weeks no questions asked. Only 58,000kms on it but DSG warranty ran out last year, although it did already get clutch packs 2.5yrs/28,000kms ago but NFI if it got the updated ones. Even so he gave a strong impression that as long as the car has done under 100k kms they would honour gearbox issue warranties.

                          • 2015 103TSI, 2nd gear shudder. Went in for its 70k service, confirmed needs new clutch pack. $2,300

Also, water pump gasket leaking, $230, and window switch needs replacement as it's losing signal, ~$300

Requested goodwill from VW. Now we play the waiting game.

                            • Hi All,

First time I'm back in a while.

Anyone experiencing issues with the new wet clutch DSG? I've had manuals up to this point but just ordered a new golf with the wet pack.

EDIT: Have seen a couple of posts which suggest it is a more reliable unit.

Seems the wet ones have been vastly superior in longevity and reliability.
