G'Day Gang, I have an issue with my transmission and accidentally selecting Reverse gear instead of First. If I quickly select 1st in about 50% of the actions my car goes into reverse, which if, I'm sitting at the lights, scares the **** out of the car behind me. Luckily there is the beep from the reversing camera to warn me so I don't head backwards. I've had it back to the dealer who says there is nothing wrong but I'm wondering if any one else has such an issue or if it's just my enthusiasm to get it into gear and take off?

It's quite easy in my MY16 R to think I've taken it out of reverse and in to first to find it's still in reverse. I reckon the collar restrictor is slow to reset. I've not had this issue of selecting reverse from a standstill.

Mine seems fine. Perhaps the spring is a bit weaker than it should be on yours. Do you out of habit push down on the gear stick when shifting?MY14 MK VII GTI | Pure White | Manual | Bi-Xenons (his)

Yep. That's what happened to me. Having said that it hasn't done it for a couple of weeks now so perhaps I have either adapted or it has improved as the car has bedded in.Originally posted by NTPete View PostI must be but at times when I also move from reverse to first it doesn't come out of reverse.
